On the cross, as our saviour was paying the price for our salvation, and accomplishing the victory for our eternal salvation, He made a final statement. “It is finished.” While its meaning may seem obvious, if we are to properly understand the amazing gift Christ gave, we must fully understand the depth and weight of this powerful proclamation.
After this, Jesus, knowing all was nor finished…
After this, Jesus, knowing all was nor finished…
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
After this
Jesus endured cross until everything was accomplished.
Flogged
Multi-pronged whip with bone pieces to rip flesh
Crown of thorns (Jn. 19:2-5)
Hit, stripped down
Forced to carry his cross through the streets
Behold, my servant shall act wisely;
he shall be high and lifted up,
and shall be exalted.
As many were astonished at you—
his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance,
and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—
Beyond semblance
Figure beyond that of the children of mankind
Crucified
Pierced His hands and feet
Had to rise yourself up to breath
Running open wounds across the course wooden cross.
He could have avoided it (Matt 26:53)
Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
Jesus, knowing that was now finished.
Jesus was conscience and alert during His torture.
Imagine the mental strength to stay focused until His task was completed.
Imagine the love in His heart to make sure he didn’t give up before it was time.
He even prayed for those who were torturing and killing Him.

It is finished
It is finished
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Papyri receipts taxes have been found from that era:

The Prophesies About Him
All Sacrifices for Atonement.
The debt was now fully paid.
The Atonement was complete.
Every year and several time in between
Sacrifice for atonement (payment for sins)
Now there was no longer a price to pay.
Satan’s Power of sin over man.
Paul, looking back on the victory of the cross…
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.
This declaration of our saviour marked a new era.
This was the dawn of the New Testament Church era.
It would be 50 more days until the Holy Spirit would officially bring in the Church at Pentecost.
But this was the dawn of the new era.
