Intro: Prophecy

Wortham as we all know it is Palm Sunday. This is the first day of Holy Week. The week in which we all morn and celebrate the great gift of God in our savior Jesus Christ or Yehoshua de Christo. After Jesus left Zaccheus house in the Lukan account he then told the parable of the 10 talents or 10 minas which illustrates to some the fulfillment of what Christ expects us to do with the free gift in which God has given us through Christ and that is work with what we have I digress. Now Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem. The city and people who kills the Prophets. A city who has been historically known by the prophets to receive the truth, but I thank God that even though many refute, refuse, and rebuke the truth that doesn’t stop God from sending the truth! Just because you don’t want to hear it or see it doesn’t mean it’s not going to come to past! Can I preach it like I feel it this morning! See Zachariah 9:9 Prophecies that, “
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
explaining to us the reason Jesus came in on a colt meaning a Donkey that has not been ridden. So the prophet utterance set the stage for Jesus triumphal entry into the City of God which is Jerusalem! I thank God that his word overrules our intentions. See church just because you wouldn’t do it that way or see it that way or like it that way has no weight when God has already prophetically proclaimed what and how it was going to come to past! Touch your neighbor and say It’s going to happen as God says it is! I am telling you that your Kingdom is Coming Down!

Praise!

Donkey
The text says as Jesus began to enter the city from the landscape of the hill called Olivet that the crowd had assembled. They were coming into Jerusalem much like the landscape of a city when you enter this day and time. We call it the skyline. The skyline is when you drive into a city you can see the tall buildings from afar and it always looks glorious. Every city has it’s own special skyline markers like Nashville has the city capitol and the Batman tower all wrapped by the Cumberland river. This provides a beautiful landscape canvas. So as Jesus hits the scene riding a donkey that has never been ridden and hits the downhill road into the city’s entrance the first thing that happens is Praise comes from his disciples! See John says the multitude with him, but Luke is specific and says his disciples! They began to shout “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” This shout is relevant to the same praise the angels when Jesus is coming into the earth it is also reflective of when the King is headed to the temple the people praised God for the new King! Notice in the text that when Jesus is coming to town the people ought to know because his true disciple cannot be quite! In other words every time we come in here somebody ought to know that Jesus is headed this way because we have a Praise! And your praise is not just making noise but your praise is prophetic! Declaring that the King of Glory is headed this way! Church you can know when your praise is real when it makes your haters mad! See even the Pharisees tried to get Jesus to rebuke his dispsciples, but Jesus said if they don’t shout the rocks would cry out! You know some people will say now that’s enough because they don’t even realize who is in the building, but when the King of Glory comes in the place those who are truly looking for Him can’t help but to Priase! Touch three people and tell them I gotta praise I gotta praise I gotta Praise!
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Power and Purification

Jesus was not on vacation church. Jesus did not come just to hang out and have theological debates with the Pharisees and Saducees. Jesus came to do two things institute His Power and Purify the temple. As soon as he gets into the city the first thing he does in the Lucan account is go to the temple and throw out the money changers. Let me clean this up because people often try to tie this with giving. Jesus is not rebuking giving to the church he is rebuking those who are misusing God’s people who are trying to give to God! See church we have to be real some folks try to take advantage of the church and its people, but I want you to know those who misuse God’s people and God’s money will soon enough get a whipping! Because the Bible says Jesus went into the temple and beat the devil out of His house! Somebody help me say you need a whipping! See many theologians and teachers even now try to dispel this Jesus. See we don’t like the Jesus who will whip your tail! No no we like the baby Jesus, the healing Jesus, the soft and kind Jesus, but I want to inform someone in the place that Jesus is coming back after a church without spot blemish wrinkle or any such thing and some spots that we have in us and on us Jesus sometimes will have to whip it out of us. Why?!?! Because he loves us enough to purify us so that we can be acceptable Yall don’t Hear Me! Jesus has the Power to Purify us! So when you hear the prophetic utterance, and you see the prophetic praise, and then Jesus Power shows up and whips some stuff Their Kingdom is Coming Down! Touch your neighbor and say Its coming Down!
