25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Philippians 3:10–11 CSB
10 My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead.
Philippians 3:9–11 CSB
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ—the righteousness from God based on faith. 10 My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead.

I. Jesus Christ died for you.

I. Do you know Jesus Christ?
Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

A. Why did Jesus need to die?

Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Illus: Every person messes up. We have all done things we regret.
Every thought, word, or action you have that does not honor God is called sin.
When you look at a website, or watch a show that deep within you spirit you know is wrong, that is sin.
When ever you lose your temper and yell at someone, that is sin.
Whenever you cut the corner on your taxes, you sin.
The bible teaches that an angry thought towards your fellow man is just as much of a sin as murdering him, and a lustful look at a woman is just as much of a sin as sleeping with her.
God will punish every thought word and action. That said, God knew we could not handle our His punishment… which was why Jesus was God’s plan from the very beginning.
Isaiah 53:5 CSB
5 But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.

B. Jesus Christ is offering you complete forgiveness.

Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Illus: Let’s be clear, God did not turn a blind eye to your sin.
Both you sin and my sin needed to be punished.
This is where the cross is so important. On the cross God placed the punishment for your sin onto Jesus.
Jesus fully accepted the punishment for every one of your sins. No matter how big, or how small, Jesus died for every sin.
Because Jesus suffered for every sin, you don’t have to be punished. Jesus already suffered. It is done.
There is forgiveness available for you today.
John 3:16 CSB
16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

II. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead.

II. To know Christ you must join Him in death.
Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

A. Death did not defeat Jesus, Jesus conquered death.

Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Illus: Today we gather not because Jesus died, but because Jesus conquered death.
Lots of people have given their lives from important causes.
Patriots throughout the history of america have laid down their lives for the freedom we enjoy.
Martin Luther King gave his life for the pursuit of racial equality in America.
There is something truly noble about giving your life for a cause greater than you, or to protect others around you.
Jesus certainly died out of love for both you and me… but if Jesus died and that was it, we would still be hopeless today.
Not only did Jesus die and take our place in punishment, He rose from the dead conquering death itself and giving us new life.
We find forgiveness in the death of Christ, and eternal life in His resurrection.
Romans 6:23 CSB
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

B. Death does not need to reign over you. In Christ you can experience new life.

Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Illus: Every person here will die at some point. Life is fatal.
That said, what comes next is either Heaven or Hell. It will either be eternity in the enjoyment and life of God, or eternity in the the punishment of God.
One or the other.
When you embrace the life of God, through faith in the perfect work of Jesus, you can inherit the forgiveness of Jesus, and the eternity of life waiting for you.
Beyond that, God is ready to transform your life today. He is ready to free you from the sins that enslave you, and empower you to live abundantly today.
Romans 8:11 CSB
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you.

III. Today, you can have new life!

III.
Romans 4:25 CSB
25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

A. To embrace God’s life, you must believe.

Illus: Faith is more than simply believing God exists and intellectually thinking that Jesus died and rose from the dead.
Faith is whole heartdly trusting Jesus to save you, trusting him to change you, abandoning sin in your life and turning to Him.
Today I want to give you that opportunity. I want to give you the opportunity to follow Jesus by faith and experience the life he has for you.
John 11:25–26 CSB
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. 26 Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
