So we are getting closer to Easter.

Holy Week 3
21 After Jesus had said this, he was deeply troubled and declared openly, “I am telling you the truth: one of you is going to betray me.”
22 The disciples looked at one another, completely puzzled about whom he meant.
As we get closer to Easter, I think it is a good time to look at some of the awkward realities that we are presented with in life.
In this account we see that the disciples really didn’t have much of a clue what was going on. It seems that they couldn’t really conceive of what Jesus was suggesting, let alone that he would do nothing about it...
I would like to suggest that for us today, it can be easy to lose sight of our own capacity to make mistakes, to act in ways that are selfish, hurtful, destructive, even if at the time we aren’t aware of our motives.
I hear lots of people struggle with the question of
“Why do bad things happen to Good people”
But for some time now, I believe that a far more disturbing question is
“Why do good people do bad things”
23 One of the disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was sitting next to Jesus.
24 Simon Peter motioned to him and said, “Ask him whom he is talking about.”
25 So that disciple moved closer to Jesus’ side and asked, “Who is it, Lord?”
26 Jesus answered, “I will dip some bread in the sauce and give it to him; he is the man.” So he took a piece of bread, dipped it, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered him. Jesus said to him, “Be quick about what you are doing!”
28 None of the others at the table understood why Jesus said this to him.
29 Since Judas was in charge of the money bag, some of the disciples thought that Jesus had told him to go and buy what they needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor.
30 Judas accepted the bread and went out at once. It was night.
To be sure, Judas played a key role in Jesus betrayal.
At the same time, we should remember that all of the disciples abandoned Jesus...
Even when it hurts
Aspirational songs like this...
Can we affitm that the ground athte foot of the cross is level

31 After Judas had left, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man’s glory is revealed; now God’s glory is revealed through him.
32 And if God’s glory is revealed through him, then God will reveal the glory of the Son of Man in himself, and he will do so at once.
I do believe that when we sin, we give amunition to the enemy...

It was now night...
This event that would come would be the one that revealed God most fully.
This event to come would be the place where Jesus’ glory was revealed.
This event to come would be the place where humanity did its worse.
