1. The Uniqueness of Christianity

What makes Christianity a unique religion?
All founders of religion
Out of all the major religions, every founder is dead.
Mohammad (Muslim/Islam) is dead. Joseph Smith (Mormonism) is dead. Buddha (Buddhism) is dead. Confucius is dead.
Jesus was dead, but now He is alive.
Jesus was died on the cross by crucifixion, he was buried, and on the 3rd day, He was resurrected. The death and resurrection of Jesus are crucial and central to the message of the gospel.

2. What Is The Resurrection Of Jesus?

What Is The Resurrection Of Jesus?
Dictionary of Bible Themes 2560 Jesus Christ, resurrection of

True Christian preaching is centred on the fact that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead so that believers may have victory over sin and death and receive the blessings of eternal life.

The resurrection of Jesus is the belief that God raised Jesus from the dead as a way to vindicate (or justify or give reasons of approval) Him after obeying all that God the Father commanded Him to do, such as living a perfect and sinless life, dying on the cross and paying the penalty of the sins of His people so that God’s people can have forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
It was a physical and bodily resurrection. When Jesus was raised from the dead, He did not appear in a form of a spirit, but He appeared with a real human body.
Luke 24:36–43 ESV
36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate before them.
Luke 24:36-

3. How did Jesus rise from the dead?

Jesus’ resurrection was a miracle. It is impossible for someone who is dead to become alive again unless God intervenes.
Did you know that the resurrection of Jesus was the work of the Trinity? We believe God Triune - One God in Three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Jesus is God the Son.

a. God the Father raised Jesus from the dead.

Acts 2:22–24 ESV
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
Ephesians 1:17–20 ESV
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
But, how did God the Father raise Jesus from the dead? He did so through God the Holy Spirit

b. God the Spirit raised Jesus from the dead.

Romans 8:11 ESV
11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
But there is also one more person in Trinity:
God the Son (Jesus) raised Jesus from the dead.

c. God the Son (Jesus) raised Jesus from the dead.

John 2:19 ESV
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
Jesus’ resurrection was not only done by one person in the Trinity, but it was cooperative work by God Himself.
The fact that the Bible teaches that God raised Jesus from the dead and that Jesus raised Himself is yet another testament to Christ’s divinity. Miracles can only be accomplished by God.

4. Why is Jesus’ resurrection important?

The resurrection of Jesus is necessary.
In , Paul explains what happens if Jesus’ resurrection was not true:
Our Christian teaching/preaching would be useless.
Our faith would be useless.
We would be misrepresenting God.
We are still in sin (not forgiven).
Christians who died in their faith in Jesus would have no eternal life.
Christians would the most miserable people in the world.
But, Jesus did rise from the dead! That’s a fact.

5. Historical Evidences For The Resurrection Of Jesus

1. Execution: Jesus died by crucifixion and was buried
2. Empty Tomb: The physical body of Jesus went missing. Proponents and opponents of Jesus’ resurrection acknowledge that the tomb is empty.
3. Eyewitness: His disciples believed that He rose and appeared to them.
4. Change: Timid Peter became Bold Peter. The church persecutor Paul was suddenly changed. The skeptic James, brother of Jesus, was suddenly changed. Lives are still being transformed.
5. Evangelism: The disciples risked their lives to go everywhere sharing the message of the risen Christ. They laid down their lives as the ultimate proof of their complete confidence in the truth of their message.

6. So What?

Today is Easter Sunday. Maybe you’re here today as a CEO - you come to church on Christmas & Easter Only - CEO.
But today, you have to make a decision on what you’re going to do about Jesus’ resurrection. It’s not enough to know the facts about His resurrection, but you must respond to it.
What does Jesus’ resurrection have to do with you?
If Christ did not rise from the dead, the Christian faith has nothing to say to you. Since Christ did rise from the dead, the Christian faith calls you to repent and believe the gospel. (Dustin Benge)
Because Jesus’ was raised from the dead, it demonstrates that He is God, and that He has victory over Satan, sin, and death. If you’re not in Christ, then you would have no victory over Satan, sin and death.
Because Jesus’ was raised from the dead, it demonstrates His Lordship and Kingship over our lives.
Acts 5:30–31 ESV
30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
Romans 14:9 ESV
9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
As Christians, our hope in the future is that one day we will also experience the same resurrection power that Jesus had.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 ESV
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
If you’re not a believer, then you need to repent of sins and believe in Jesus for eternal life or else you will perish. Here’s Jesus’ promise:
John 11:25–26 ESV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Followers of Jesus will never die; meaning, we will not taste hell. Rather, we will forever experience eternal life in heaven with God.
John 5:
But, if you choose to ignore this message, then you will face judgment before God, and you will die in your sins and spend in eternity separated from God.
