Amazing Grace
We are here to remember C. Ph.
According to the wisest man that ever lived
eccl 3
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
Charles loved to tell stories. One of the first stories that I remember him telling me was how he met the love of his life when he was twelve years old.
And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
gen 2 22-
After Paddles died he lost the wind beneath his wings. They had never been apart on an anniversary. He was not about to start missing anniversaries this year.
He loved to fly and he showed me a picture of his plane. He told me about flying, but not about his biplane acrobatics. Carol shared that with me.

We each have stories. our stories weave in and out of each other’s lives creating a wonderful tapestry of life.
We are here to remember and to honor our memory of C. Ph.
Eulogy - Carol
“Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.” C. Ph.
We have shared some of his story and now his story lives on with each one of us.
Scuba diver, pilot, skydiver at 60 yrs of age, Architect, lifeguard, Airforce, School Planning Administrator, husband of one wife for 70 yrs.
He took the verse seriously where the apostle Paul said,
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
C. Ph. lived life to the full, but life isn’t finished. We are hoping for more.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
:1-3
Jesus returned to the Father to prepare a place for us and He promised to return. The Bible tells us that as He left His disciples he was lifted up from this earth and caught up into the clouds out of their sight. And two men in white robes said to them
and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
acts 1
What will that day be like?
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Therefore encourage one another with these words.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 thess 4:13-18
and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
We wait and hope. We look forward the day when God’s love for all of us will be fulfilled.
1 cor 13
We wait and hope. We look forward the day when God’s love for all of us will be fulfilled.
When that day arrives we will have eternity to enjoy our loved ones.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
That will be an awesome end to suffering. I can’t wait for that landing in heaven, when we will be able to walk away permanently from the sin and sorrow we experience in this world.
