The Farmer
The Farmer
evangelism focuses on the proclaiming of the good news of the coming of God in Christ, including the forgiveness of sins, and the hope of eternal life, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Farmer
The Farmer
Joseph Francis Carr, was an American sports executive in American football, baseball, and basketball. He is best known as the president of the National Football League from 1921 until 1939.
During his tenure in 1935, he was the farmer to “sow the seeds” of what is now known as the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and WNBA Draft.

I remember reading of a man who thought he had a fool-proof plan for sneaking into a drive-in movie without paying. He would crawl into the trunk of the car, and his wife would pay only for herself. Once inside the drive-in, she would let him out of the trunk.
The plan sounded good, but it failed. The man did crawl into the trunk, and his wife did drive into the theater just as they planned. Only when she attempted to release him did they realize the problem with the plan--the husband had the keys to the trunk in his pocket. After firemen cut through the trunk, the man was released, but neither he nor his wife saw the movie. Some plans may sound good, but they do not work. Even if this plan had worked, it could hardly be called good, for the intent was to deceive.
God’s plan for creation is a good plan.
The goal for which it was established is of the highest good.
It is good in a functional sense…….because the plan is certain to work,
In other words…….it’s good because GOD IS GOOD….. For what does the scripture say, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Not only does God plan to give you a future and a hope but David says, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation.
Jesus had a plan which would take “His gospel into all the world and to the whole creation”
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
but right now, at this time…….”The kingdom of heaven is at hand” was to be proclaimed only to “the Jews”
Just as John the Baptist was the forerunner for Jesus, serves as the forerunner for the disciple’s short term mission trip. (or better yet apprenticeship)
Apprenticeship; is a system of training individuals of a trade or profession with on-the-job training.
Matthew says, And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he encountered the multitudes of people, he was moved with a commanding compassion for them, they were troubled and thrown down, helpless like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Often throughout the Bible you find that the disciples had very little understanding of the parables and sayings of Jesus and frequently asked the meaning of things. Unknowingly the disciples were about to be sent out on their first training mission.
Jesus just said, in so many words,
“that the multitudes of peoples,
throughout all the cities and villages,
Right now,
at this time and place,
In their current condition,
Are ready to receive the message of the King…….but,
The servants who are to proclaim that message, are few.
Therefore,
Pray sincerely,
To the Lord of the harvest, which is Me.
To send out laborers.”

Jesus’ purpose for this first mission trip was twofold. First, it was for the sake of the lost, to give them an opportunity to hear and accept the gospel; and second, it was for the benefit of the twelve themselves, to give them training in the expertise of winning souls.
As begins we see see that Jesus hand picked, drafted, and recruited twelve ordinary men to be His forerunner in taking the Gospel to the ends of the world. AND

Freely gave them authority, and dominion over unclean, immoral and evil spirits, to cast them out, And to heal every disease, condition, and illness AND every affliction.

[ It’s like when your parents would go out for the evening on date night. They would normally hand pick the oldest sibling and freely give them authority and control over any unclean, immoral and evil behaviors that might decide to show up and come in And to cast out any and all unwelcomed visitors]
and if your completely honest and shame the Devil, if you wasn't the one who was given the authority, you said like I said, “WHY DID THEY CHOOSE THEM?”
Why did Jesus decide to choose these twelve?
Out of all the followers and all the supporters of Jesus, what was so special about these twelve?

According to The Lord declared, “before I formed you in the womb I knew u, and before you were born I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
before you were born I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Jesus recruited these twelve because it was all apart of God’s sovereign plan.
These twelve were pre-ordained and predetermined. Therefore that meant,
[No other followers, No friends of friends, No walk ons,]
Walk on; a college or high school athlete who tries out for the team without having been offered a scholarship or recruited.

These twelve Jesus dispatched and sent out on a Specific Mission (vs.5) To a Specific Mark (vs.6) With a Specific Message(vs.7) and to execute by a Specific Method (vs.8)
Specific Mission (vs.5)
a Specific Task (vs.7,8a)
GO NOWHERE AMONG THE GENTILES AND ENTER NO TOWN OF THE SAMARITANS.
if Jesus’ purpose was to give the Apostles training and experience in the expertise of winning souls and to get the Gospel to the ends of the earth,
why would he put a limit, why would he set boundaries on where and who would hear the gospel?
Christ did not forbid the disciples to preach to Gentiles or Samaritans if they encountered them on the way, but they were to take the message first to the covenant people, in the regions nearby.
English Standard Version Chapter 1
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
therefore the text teaches us that, in order to be successful in the expertise of winning souls we first have to be Obedient to the calling.
