The night before Jesus goes to the cross we find an account in
Matthew 26:
Jesus is preparing to die.
The dieth he is about to face will be a horrible dieth.
The Romans where ruthless at killing people, in fact they had really made it an art form.
One on the items they would have used would have been a whip kind of like this one.
The real purpose for a whip is to guide cows…the Romans would have put rocks and sharp objects in their whips.
They were calling Jesus the king of the Jews.
All kings have crowns.
I need to invite a helper for this one.
Please tell me is that sharp?
The solders took a thorn bush and made a crown of thorns out of it to place on Jesus head.
Do you think they put it on real nicely?
No probably not.
Then they made Jesus carry his cross to Golgotha where they would crucify him.
They would lay him on the cross and hammer nails through his arms and feet kind of like this nail it would affixing him to the cross.
Jesus would hang on the cross between to criminals being mocked and made fun of, as he would breath his last breaths here on earth with us before he died.
Please stand and sing as we reflect on the Cross of Christ Jesus.
