Resurrection in the Past

Jesus was crucified and buried on Friday, the day of preparation
Matthew 27:62 ESV
The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate
Mark 15:42 ESV
And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
Luke 23:54 ESV
It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning.
John 19:14 ESV
Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”
On Sabbath, the chief priests obtained a guard
Matthew 27:62–66 ESV
The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.” So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.
Mt 27:
We have no record of the disciples doing anything on the Sabbath, other than the women preparing the materials for anointing/embalming Jesus
Luke 23:54–56 ESV
It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning. The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
John 20:19 ESV
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
For all the many important doctrines of the church, for all the disagreements believers have had and can have on this or that point of teaching and practice, Christianity is 100% dependent on the reality and historicity of this one fact: He is Risen!

Resurrection in the Present

Salvation as resurrection

Ephesians 2:4–6 ESV
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Escape from the sentence of Hell

Revelation 20:5–6 ESV
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
Revelation 20:14–15 ESV
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
rev 20:14

Resurrection required

Ephesians 2:4–6 ESV
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Ephesians 2:6 ESV
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Romans 6:4 ESV
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 4:23–25 ESV
But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
Romans 4:25 ESV
who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
1 Corinthians 15:17 ESV
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
Romans 4:24–25 ESV
but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
The present of Resurrection, namely our being saved, is 100% dependent upon the Resurrection of Jesus being true in the past. If He did not rise from the grave, we are not brought to spiritual life. We do not escape the sentence of Hell. We are not forgiven. Praise God He is Risen!

Resurrection in the Future

Near

Romans 6:4 ESV
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Charles Wesley - O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing 1739 Ode to his conversion
He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.
NHBC Art XII Of The Harmony of the Law and the Gospel
...to restore them through a Mediator to unfeigned obedience to the holy law, is one great end of the gospel, and of the means of grace connected with the establishment of the visible church.
Not only are we declared righteous, the same power that raised Christ from the grave is available to every believer to apply in this life here and now to transform our thoughts, our desires, our words, and our actions, in short to conform us more and more to the image of Christ Himself. For those who need to change today, there is good news: He is Risen!

Far

Romans 6:5 ESV
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
John 5:28–29 ESV
Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
Today we celebrate what we believe; that on the third day Jesus rose from the grave. Because He did, all who believe it are forgiven of their sins by God, escape the sentence of eternal Hell, have power to change in this life, and are promised to be raised body and soul when Jesus returns to gather His own forever. All because of this good news: He Is Risen!
