Looking for what to worship...

Humans need more. We are constantly looking for something that is “out there” we have a desire to be a part of something that goes beyond the confines of what we know and can see and touch. We want more. (explorers, space race, divers)

Matthew 2:1–2 HCSB

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived unexpectedly in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

Looking for the one with the answers...

Along with our desire for there to be more to life than what we see, humans want answers. (Too Much Trivial Knowledge / Joyce and I talking about the inane things that I happen to know) We want the answers to our questions, the easy ones and the hard ones.

Luke 2:45–48 HCSB

When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for Him. After three days, they found Him in the temple complex sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all those who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You.”

Looking for the one sacrifice...

Guilt is a powerful thing. Is it any wonder by deffinition...Guilt:1 :  the fact of having committed a breach of conduct especially violating law and involving a penalty 2a :  the state of one who has committed an offense especially consciously b :  feelings of deserving blame especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy 3 :  a feeling of deserving blame for offenses

Matthew 28:1–7 HCSB

After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb. Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow. The guards were so shaken from fear of him that they became like dead men. But the angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there.’ Listen, I have told you.”

He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

Looking for the only hope we have...

Mary knew the score. Before serving Jesus she was possessed by seven demons, we don’t know the phyisical evidence of this but it is highly possible that she suffered from epilepsy or some other dementia Jesus came along and gave her hope. That hope drove her to the tomb, the sorrow made her ask where is he but also clouded her judgment, seeing Jesus but not looking at the one who she loved.

John 20:11–15 HCSB

But Mary stood outside facing the tomb, crying. As she was crying, she stooped to look into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet, where Jesus’ body had been lying. They said to her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “Because they’ve taken away my Lord,” she told them, “and I don’t know where they’ve put Him.” Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not know it was Jesus. “Woman,” Jesus said to her, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Supposing He was the gardener, she replied, “Sir, if you’ve removed Him, tell me where you’ve put Him, and I will take Him away.”

Jesus said, “Mary.” Turning around, she said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” —which means “Teacher.” “Don’t cling to Me,” Jesus told her, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brothers and tell them that I am ascending to My Father and your Father—to My God and your God.” Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them what He had said to her.
