We Need Help

Jesus has done His mission. He ransomed men from sin, washed them by his blood and rose in victory over death.
He defeated the Devil both in his life, in his death and in his resurrection.
Colossians 2:15 ESV
15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
And very soon Jesus would return from where he came and be seated at the right hand of the Father.
Luke 22:69 ESV
69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
And this is wonderful. But in all this there is a bit of an elephant in the room.
If Jesus return to the throne of glory, then who will be with His disciples? Who will help them? who will pray for them like Jesus did in the garden? Who will work in their lives? Who will comfort them? Who will teach them?
I mean, when your master has been God Himself, then any less is a step down.
But God has a powerful plan that Jesus is about to reveal to us:
John 14:16–20 ESV
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
John 14:25–27 ESV
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Let me tell you about the Holy Spirit today.
He is the Great New Testament Promise that the church waited for.
Acts 1:4 ESV
4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me;
The Holy Spirit is to the New Testament Church what Jesus was to Old Testament Israel.
The Old Testament promised a messiah and all of Israel waited for the coming of the messiah. The church was not waiting for the messiah, the messiah when He came established the Church.
“I will build my church”.
The New Testament promised the Holy Spirit and in the upper room the church waited for the coming of the Holy Spirit.
In other words - The Holy Spirit is to the church, what the messiah was to Israel - the fulfilling of a might promise.
But the Holy Spirit is not a replacement of Jesus or a greater than Jesus, quite the opposite, He is a “Allos” Jesus.
“allos” is the greek word “another”.
John 14:16 ESV
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
And it means: Another of the Same sort. So the Holy Spirit is exactly Like Jesus, with one small, I dont want to say difference because they are the same sort, but the Holy Spirit brings a very powerful dynamic that Jesus, while He was one earth, by virtue of his Human body, could not bring.
Omnipresence.
Jesus, being in human form was governed by the laws of time and space. Jesus could only be at one place at a time. He could be here and there.
But the Holy Spirit, being Spirit - has no such spacial limitations as human flesh does.
And since the Holy Spirit is “The same Kind as Jesus” - AND is omnipresent. The coming of the Holy Spirit is Jesus with all of us - all the time.
That is why Jesus said:
Matthew 28:20 ESV
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
If Jesus is seated at the right hand of the father, how could he possibly be with all 1.2 billion us all of us, all the time, from china to chillie, from south africa to south Koria?
Because the Holy Spirit is “Another” Helper.
This helper comes, not from our prayer, but by the intercession of Jesus “I will ask my father...” And how long will this helper remain with us?
“He will be with you forever” - We will never for the rest of our eternal existence face a day without God presence. As the disciples suffered a period of loss between the Lord ascension and the Holy Spirits outpouring, will never NEVER suffer that loss.
The Holy Spirit will be with us all our days on earth from the moment of our conversion to our dying breath, when even then to be absent from the Body is to be present with the Lord.

You cannot Explain the Holy Spirit to the Unsaved.

John 14:17 ESV
17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
It is amazing how the Holy Spirit can for us be the cause of such joy, but for the world a cause of such frustration.
The World cannot understand the Holy Spirit. They cannot know the Holy Spirit. They cannot see the Holy Spirit and they cannot receive anything from the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
Rockwell automation video.
That is what this sermon sound like to an unbeliever.
When a person is in this field watch this, they get it.
When you read and the holy Spirit, you get it. You get it because the Holy Spirit himself reveals it to you.
Verse 18 is so precious:
John 14:18 ESV
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Orphans are the fatherless and the motherless. They are little children who have no one to care and to love them them. No one to protect and care for them.
And it is vital that we remeber than we are NOT left like orphans.
We have a father - Our father.
We are cared for. - because he cares for you.
We are loved -
John 14:25–26 ESV
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Look at what this verse says: What things will the holy Spirit teach you?
ALL things - Is there a doctrine that you need man to teach you that the holy spirit through plain scripture cannot teach you? NO.
And that is the key - the holy Spirit will NEVER teach you something that is not taught plainly in holy scripture.
The Holy Spirit will not teach oneness, tulip, replacement theology, health and wealth or any number of things that you can only learn from man and not scripture.
Not only will the Holy Spirit teach us, but that which we have learned will be supernaturally available to us by divine recall.
The Holy Spirit can bring a scripture, bring a teaching, bring a concept, bring a prayer to you remembrance before you even know you need it.
Look at how forgetful the disciples were of Jesus teaching before they had receaved the holy spirit: Dispite Jesus telling them multiple times:
Matthew 16:21 ESV
21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
He told them, and many times, yet they forgot.
It was only afterwards that they rememeberd his teaching...
Luke 24:1–8 ESV
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” 8 And they remembered his words,
That is not something that we will ever have happened to us so long as we abide in Jesus. We will not be unaware, confused.

Conclusion:

What is the end of this marvellous blessing?
Look at the last will of Jesus:
His soul was committed to the Father.
His body was committed to Joseph of aramathea
His clothes fell to the soldures
His mother he left to John.
What about all the other poor disciples?
Silver and gold have i none, but that which i have is infinity better and i leave it to you:
John 14:27 ESV
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Jesus leaves us HIS peace - what greater inheritance can we ask for than the peace of Jesus.
It is HIS peace. It is a DIFFERENT kind of peace that the world knows. It is not circumstantial but positional.
It is because based purely on the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
So let not your heart be troubles, niether be afaid - Why not Jesus?
1:
John 16:33 ESV
33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
and
2 Timothy 1:7 ESV
7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
