Rejected

On Good Friday we remember Jesus’ death – the life he sacrificed on our behalf. But his death cannot be understood without also acknowledging his rejection. Because the weightier sacrifice that day was not his loss of life, but his loss of relationship. In fact, we could say that his death was the result of his rejection. Not just rejection by men, but rejection by God. It was his forsakenness that cost him his everything – not only his physical life, but his spiritual life as well. He was abandoned and cut off so that we would never have to be. Even though, like Jesus, we suffer disconnection and loneliness and rejection, we will never be forsaken by the One who gives true life and true love.
