These are not your traditional Easter decorations. Ok some of them are but the last time I checked, and that was earlier this morning, Spiderman, Superman, Batman and the like have nothing to do with Easter. So for those who may be visiting here this morning let me explain.
For the past few weeks we have engaged in a series called Heroes in the Bible. We talked about how we have the abilitiy to be a hero of the faith if we just have

Faith

From there we have been looking at some of the different heroes from the bible and seeing what we can learn from them.
Well this morning we are going to be looking at the greatest Superest, I don’t care if it’s not a word, hero of all time.
To introduce this hero I have asked some children if they would come and help me by singing a song.

Superhero song Add

Thank you kids
That is right we are talking about Jesus. And this morning we are answer ing the question,

What makes Jesus the greatest Superhero of all time?

Let me start by first telling you what it isn’t

It is not that...

He heals people!

He knows the future!

He can walk on water!

He can cast out demons!

He can multiply food!

He can raise people from the dead!

He can read minds!

The truth is Jesus can do all of these things, and any one of these powers would classify Him as being a pretty awesome Superhero, but the fact that He can do all this and more, well that puts Superman to shame.
The truth is Jesus can do all of these things
And what is more is...

Jesus is real!

I am sorry if I am about to shatter your world view here but you need to know, Batman, Superman Flash, green lantern, Shazam, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Iron man, Spiderman, Hulk, Thor, none of these guys exist. They never did, only in the imaginations of the writers and minds of children.
Jesus however is real, as is everything recorded that He did and more.
But even that isn’t what makes Jesus the greatest Superhero ever. So...

What makes Jesus the greatest Superhero of all time?

to answer that let’s read
Luke 24:1–12 NLT
But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” Then they remembered that he had said this. So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it. However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.

What makes Jesus the greatest Superhero of all time?

He has risen!

Me: You know I can do a lot of things. Thanks to my firefighting training I can run into a burning building and rescue people, my first aid allows me to treat the injured and with CPR it is possible I could even bring someone back from the dead. Shoot I could even give my life to save someone else's, but I do not, nor anyone else I know, has the ability to bring themselves back from the dead three days after being killed in the most horrific way.
We: Truth is we all know heroes. We see them every day. Soldiers who put their life on the line defending other, humanitarian workers working to feed the hungry, Doctors who try and heal the sick, firefighters who put their lives on the line, Police officers. I could go on but we get the idea. They all have one thing in common on their own they can not overcome the grave.
God: But Jesus did. After sacrificing His life on earth as an atonement for the sins of mankind, again hero, Jesus spent just 3 days in the grave. Unlike Lazarus raising from the dead, Jesus had no one calling Him out. Not only did Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, He rose Himself proving once and for all He was and is indeed God.
See only God Can take away the sins of people so Jesus dying on the cross would be worth nothing if He were not in fact God, but Easter Sunday gives us the confidence we need to say without a doubt Jesus is God for no one else could overcome the grave on their own, therefore Jesus sacrifice on the cross is indeed sufficient and here is the best part, so that anyone who believe in Him would be forgiven, redeemed, delivered, and given a new life that get this will overcome the grave just like Jesus did.
But not because we can, but because He did.
You: If you are here today and you have accepted what Jesus did on the cross and claimed it and allowed Him to be the God of your life, let me remind you what that has done for you. Not only are you forgiven of your sin God will actually deliver you from it, meaning you don’t have to keep doing it. Instead with your new life you live better and receive all the benefits that come from living life God’s way. But wait there is more.
For those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus accepting His free gift and allowing Him to be Lord of their life you will also inherit eternal life. Not that you will not die in this life but that like Jesus who went before you, the grave will not Hold you as Jesus Himself who proved His ability to raise from the dead will raise you and you will live for all eternity with Him.
We:But what if there are some here who are not saved because up till not they have rejected God’s free gift. For any here who are ready to accept and be saved I have good news. To be saved for all eternity by they greatest superhero of all time all we need to do to be save is
ABC

Accept, Believe, and Confess

Romans 10:9–10 NLT
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
