The Resurrection Life
Big Idea - The resurrection changes our life.
What to do with verse 12 “Put On Then” what does this phrase mean?
Colossians 3:12-17
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.
And be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Hook - College Mens basketball has had a problem for decades.
The problem is that some of the best players coming out of high school only spend one year in college and then go pro.
They don’t get much of an education and they don’t help out their team for more than a year.
They don’t mature and really help build the team.
We call this one year in college basket ball - one and done.
College football requires players to stay for 3 years before they can turn pro.

Many times we view the Gospel of Jesus which includes the Resurrection of Jesus as a one and done.
One time
We may think, I’ve accepted Jesus as the Lord of my life and now I’m done with the Gospel.
We may think, I celebrate the resurrection of Jesus once a year at Easter and that is enough.
This is a one and done attitude with the Gospel.
The Resurrection and Easter is not a “One and Done”.
Illustration - The gospel of the Lord is like water, it gets into every cell of our life.
It is essential for living.
When you don’t get water in your diet you die.
When we are not getting Gospel (including resurrection) in our regular spiritual diet we spiritually shrivel like a raisin.

Why?
The Gospel is the daily motivator to live for Jesus - to take action.
We will see that challenge for action in our passage today.

Colossians 3:1-4
3 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

I do I seek those things which are above?
How do I set my mind on above?
