The Promise of Comfort

Matthew 5:4 ESV
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
When we consider comfort we often refer to some level of relief from pain we are experiencing in our life. When we hurt we desire for the pain to be lifted and removed from our lives.
This text is located in a section we refer to as the beatitudes. Jesus is teaching that when we mourn and are in pain we can find comfort in God.
Transition: I want to encourage you today to look towards God for relief.

God Promises Sufficient Comfort

In God we find completeness
God does not half do anything
God will give us what no one else can give
John 16:33 ESV
33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Application: Trust God to comfort you through your storms

Isaiah 41:10 ESV
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

b. God will strengthen you
c. God will help you
d. God will hold you

God Promises Eternal Comfort

The comfort of God is not confined to this world and this time
God’s comfort is eternal
John 14:1-
John 14:1–4 ESV
1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

Conclusion:

You can gain access to this comfort God offers by giving your life to Him. God loves you so much that he sent His son to die so that you may enter into this eternal comfort he provides.
If you have not made Christ your Savior, its not too late.
