BACKGROUND:

· The people of Gilead are in need of a commander

· The ammonites were preparing to wage war against them

· Jephthah was qualified but he faced some challenges

o He was the son of a strange woman (Whore/Prostitute)

o He didn’t fit in

1. INHERITANCE

( Gilead’s wife also bore him sons, and when they were grown up, they drove Jephthah away. “You are not going to get any inheritance in our family,”
