The Power of a Single Prayer

There is nothing God loves more than keeping promises, answering prayer, performing miracles, and fulfilling dreams.

The bigger the circle we draw, the bigger the prayers we pray, the better, because God gets more glory.

We must believe that God is for us. If we do not believe that then we will prayer small prayers.

The Jericho Miracle

Joshua 6:1–5 NKJV

1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”

Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp. 12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. 13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days. 15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. 16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city!

Jericho was a city with a six-foot wide lower wall and a fifty-foot high upper wall. The walls were so thick, the city seemed safe from any attack.

When God finally caused the walls to fall down flat, it fulfilled a 400 year-old promise from God.

Genesis 15:

Genesis 15:18–21 NKJV

18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates—19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

If we keep circling the promise, God will ultimately deliver and answer.

What miracle or answered prayer you have seen in your life?

What is your Jericho?

God performed this miracle as a pattern for our lives. There is nothing to difficult or hard for God.

We have to know how big the need is before we can prayer effectively. When we face something that seems to difficult, we keep circling until God answers.

What is the difference big prayers and small prayers?

Circling Jericho

Luke 18:35–43 NKJV

35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. 36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. 37 So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, 41 saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” 42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Notice where this miracle occured. Thousands of years after Joshua marched around Jericho’s walls, Jesus was in Jericho and two blind men got His attention.

After Jesus saw them, He asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
