Bitterness

Naomi experienced a number of difficulties in her life.

Her response led to a place of hopelessness.

She bitterly believed that God was against her (1:13, 1:20-21).

All too often we can relate to her feelings.

Hope

Hope enters the story through people committed to doing what is right.

Ruth and Boaz both show tremendous character as God unfolds His plan.

In 2:20, Naomi has a change of heart before there’s a change in circumstances

As sheep, we must stay with our shepherd.

Redemption

Redemption is a key theme that means to buy back.

3:13-17 shows us what this redemption looked like.

This is a picture if our redemption in Christ.

God used redemption here to bring about our ultimate redemption.
