The devotion and trust of the widow

The destruction of the Temple

Prophecy and the importance of correct interpretation.
Disciples marvel at the beauty and the enormous majesty of the temple. 37 feet long, 18 feet high and 16 feet deep. White marble and gold.
Jesus tells them and foretells them about the coming destruction. In verse 2 he says
Mark 13:2 ESV
And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
once they reached the mount of olives across the Kedron valley opposite the temple, Peter James and John and Andrew asked him Privately verse 4
The theme of watching and being on guard is now introduced and runs throughout the discourse. Here is verse 5 again in verse 9 “be on your guard” verse verse 23 again verse 33, verse 37 stay awake
See that no one leads you astray Many will come in my name. Claiming I am He. From 30- 70 not documented of anyone claiming to be the messiah, in about 132 AD Simon Bar Kosiba claimed to be the messiah and led them in a revolt against Rome . His followers called him “Son of the Start” There was a Jewish rebellion in AD 66 and lasted until the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70
When you hear of wars and rumors of wars do not be alarmed Jesus knew there would be coming war with Rome first, This must take place, But the end is not yet
What end?
Verse 8 all in the Indicative mood -----
These are but the beginning of the birth pains-------

Conclusion

Keeping with the theme of not being deceived or led astray. Things aren’t always the way they seem or the way we expect.
Not being alarmed--- this must take place
Eager expectation of the return of Christ - through the birth pains
Rom 8:18-
Romans 8:18–25 ESV
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
