Worldly view of the purpose of life

The world would have you believe that either the goal of life is happiness, like those whose motto is “Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you die;” or propose that the highest order of existence is philosophy also known as Reason and Language, like those who are convinced by Aristotle.

I will demonstrate through scripture the true purpose and intent of God for human life

I. But, what does God have to say about this? insists that the highest order of reason is to seek God. He tells us in to cease satisfying our evil lusts and learn to do good, seek justice and to come to the rescue of the powerless. It is through this that we exercise wisdom.

II. Now let us peer into the goal of life. In the oft quoted passage of scripture , Jesus declares that belief in Him God’s gift to humanity is the path to life; as He puts it everlasting or eternal life.

III. In fact Jesus declares in both that He is the power of resurrection and life itself and in that He is the way to true life.

IV. So we must conclude that Jesus is the pinnacle of the well reasoned life.

V. Let me now reveal to you a mystery. Jesus the goal of the Spirit born man asked; “Who do you say that I am?” And Peter responded correctly that Jesus is the Christ Son of the Living God. Why did I place this here? Well, Jesus is the firstborn among many brothers, that is . God wants children and not just any kind of children, but children in the image of His Son Jesus. says that believers are anointed a “royal priesthood we have authority and rule.” The rule of law here is love; insists there is no greater love than to lay your life down for your friends. Sacrificial love is the most excellent way. This is truth and this is life. This is a mystery revealed, the believer is a potential christ, anointed by God unto good works.

VI. Summarizing, I say that the purpose of life is to find true life, yea even eternal life. The focus of true life is the path of the King, Jesus the Christ of God. The work of life is sacrificial love. And the excellence of humanity is Jesus.
