PRAY that we’d not be deceived with “empty argument” of the world and ‘partner’ with them but would live as children of the light.
PRAY that we’d bear the fruit as those that walk in the light: all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
Let us PRAY for sincere hearts (truly having upright hearts towards God).
Ask God to help us to see the sin w/in us, that anti-God drive in mankind’s makeup.
PRAY that we would be able to test what is pleasing to the Lord.
PRAY that we would not “participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them." ()
PRAY that Scripture would be our lamp.
"Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” ()
PRAY that God’s Word would be revealed as “light” coming to our darkness and giving us “understanding”. ()
PRAY that God would use this light in the lives of lost sinners around us and in our daily lives.
FOR the LOST. PRAY that God would use the light of His Word to dispel one’s darkness, ignorance, and blindness (; ).
FOR the SAVED. PRAY that God would use the light of His Word to give comfort and hope to God’s people! (; ).
Unless God’s Word illumine the way, the whole life of men is wrapped in darkness and mist, so that they cannot but miserably stray.
PRAY that Scripture would be a hammer.
"“Is not My word like fire”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“and like a hammer that pulverizes rock?” ()
PRAY that we would never display the ugly aspect of fallen man, with stiff-necked rebellion produced by persistent sin.
PRAY that we would not be the men hardening their hearts, their minds, their necks, and their faces in a determined effort to present to God in body and soul the stoutest show of resistance to His will for their lives. (; ; ; ).
PRAY that we would all experience the weight and force inherent in the Word of God and that by one blow struck by the Spirit wielding the Word as a hammer is sufficient to break rock-like, hardened hearts in pieces.
PRAY that we would see the most resistant souls be conquered and the strongholds of sin in their lives be pulled down!
PRAY that Scripture would be as a sword.
"For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” ()
PRAY that we would greatly and effectively use our two offensive weapons in our Christian warfare (“all prayer” and “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” which are “powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds.” (; )
PRAY that our use of the sword would be to thrust at and to pierce our common enemy of sin, with deadly effect.
PRAY that the Word of God would pierce and penetrate the heart of every believer and lost person.
PRAY that it would pierce so deeply, and cuts with such sharpness and accuracy, it divides soul and spirit, and “joints and marrow.” And piercing and dividing like this: the Word of God exposes and brings under its righteous judgment “the thoughts and intents of the heart.” our hearts!
Please PRAY for the faithful public preaching of God’s Word so that others would hear from the pulpit words that speak so accurately and so moving of the sinful condition of all the lost people’s hearts and lives, that they feel utterly exposed, shamed, and condemned!
PRAY that the Scripture would be as a seed.
"because you have been born again—not of perishable seed but of imperishable—through the living and enduring word of God.” ()
Humanity faces the wages of their sin, which is death (; ) and must be made alive (or born again which is a work of God’s Spirit - ,)
PRAY that God would provide the right conditions for germination, growth, and hearing of much fruit.
PRAY that we would be a part of God using His Word by which the life of God is planted into the souls of men and women and boys and girls all around us ().
Such is the depth and extent of the transformation effected by the Word of God in the lives of God’s people. They are called out of darkness into light. Their hardness of heart is broken and overcome. They are brought to see and know the depths of their own sin and misery. They are born again to eternal life. God’s Word is exalted as the lamp of His truth, the hammer of His righteous wrath, the sword of His Spirit, and the seed of life eternal.
