RUN THE RACE
WHAT does it mean to go all in?
DRIVE THE VAN
We are always offering ourselves to something.
We are always offering ourselves to something.
When we make this offer to God, we’re supposed to offer every part of ourselves. And not just some kind of generic ‘God, all I am is yours!’. But we offer ourselves as an ‘instrument of righteousness’.
God’s expectations are clear - He wants us to give Him every part of ourselves so He can do His work.
And this is because, if we have put our faith in God - we have been brought to life. We shouldn’t be participating in death anymore.
This is why the bible says that anyone who loves the world doesn’t have the love of God. God isn’t saying we shouldn’t love our kids, or our job, or things in our life. What he’s saying is, ‘There shouldn’t be any area where we say ‘Ya, I mean, God is great and all, but this is what i want to make my life about’.
Romans goes as far as saying that this is the ‘proper worship’. It’s the ‘reasonable response’ to what God has done for us.
UNREASONABLE EXPECTATIONS
HOW can we go all in?
There’s a couple key phrases here
The world - ‘Conform to the pattern of the world’
The spirit - ‘Transformed by the renewing’
This is important because
We need to understand and accept that this transformation is first and foremost a total act of the Spirit
WHY renewal? So that we can ‘test and approve what God’s will is’
See, according to the bible, our minds are broken by sin. They are so broken that we’re dead to God and His ways.
But through the life the Spirit gives us, we can know God’s will again. We can understand what God wants us to do.
But how much you let God in on your plan determines how much God lets you in on His
Not because God purposefully withholds from you if you don’t go first. It’s not like that at all.
But how much WE are willing to rely on God vs our own strength determines how much in life we’re seeing from God, or from our own strength
FAMILY LIFE
So here’s the challenge - Let’s go ALL IN.
We’re asking people to pull out all the stops. To serve more, give more, sacrifice more, and commit more. And we believe that in doing so, we’ll see God’s work being done in an even greater way here.
If this is something you have never tried, please come and talk to me after service. We don’t want you to go it alone. We’re all called to support each other, to help build each other up, and I never want someone to walk away confused because they weren’t sure what to do next.
