Bible Study Notes 1 May 2019 - Connect Church, Kirkcaldy: Persecuted
Can you describe a time when you faced opposition or suffered because of your Christian faith?
If you became imprisoned for Christ, what difference would it make for you to receive a visit, a letter, or to know believers worldwide were praying for you?
3/4 of religious persecution globally targets Christians. On Sunday we thought about three ways we can respond:
1. Remember.
2 Be ready.
3. Use your freedom.
1. Remember.
Read . Four ways we can remember the persecuted are: learn, write, go, pray. Discuss whether one of these or another way would help you to remember the persecuted. Is there a step you could take?
Read . Have you ever considered that some people are called to die for their testimony for Jesus? How does that fit your understanding of God?
What is the implied promise in ? How does that promise give hope to suffering Christians?
2. Be ready.
What does Jesus want us to understand in ? How does this apply to your life?
Read . As we make disciples, how can we help them to develop roots so persecution can't make them fall away?
3. Use your freedom.
Consider when should you take a stand for your civil rights, and when you should not. What light does each of these Scripture shed on that question? ; , ; ; ; .
Read . What does it mean to be unashamed of the gospel? How does this apply to your own life?
