Main Text:
Hook: Hey guys we are so glad that you all came to our first ever GIFT Sunday school!!! As heather said we want to help build our church across different age groups, the church was meant to be family. Well to kick this week off we are going to talk about “the Church” turn to your neighbor and say we are the church, turn to your other neighbor…..say the same thing….
To get a little warmed up lets get the conversation going around the table with this would you rather bible addition-

First Question:“Why do we come to church?”and“What do you like most about coming to church?”
Let's have some answers…..?? I hope church is more to you than just the donuts….This morning I just want to talk a little bit about the church….Now I am not going to cover all but look at

Read: 1 cor 12:12-27 and ask
Wow crazy passage right……..unpack a little bit…..
Before we go to much longer let's play a little game…. Your table leader has a picture of a lego person….Now there are many parts to this lego person…and you need every part to complete this guy….done hear in this room, kitchen, nursery, and lighthouse room are everyones parts hidden…your mission is to race and find all your pieces and put them together……..you will have only five minutes
In this passage,Paul is encouraging the believers to not be envious of each others’ different roles and gifts, but to understand that everybody part is important for its specific task. Illustrate this by talking about the different jobs/roles that are necessary for a healthy church. It isn’t just the one pastor who preaches up front. A healthy church is made of people who are serving in the nursery, cleaning the floors and taking out the trash, cooking meals and taking them to people who are sick, etc.
We ALL have a very special role to play in the church…. and serving one another in the church
is a great way to stay warm for Jesus
What makes the Dead Sea dead?Because it is all the time receiving ,never giving out anything. Why is it that many Christians are cold? Because they are all the time receiving, never giving out anything” (D. L. Moody, Moody’s Anecdotes and Illustrations, 79).
We need each other…… Illustration: Have a volunteer come up during the sermon. Take a pack of rubber bands and let the volunteer know you are going to throw them at him or her. Throwing these rubber bands obviously won’t hurt them. After you’ve done it, ask them if you can throw another pack of rubber bands at them. When the say “Yes,” pull out a rubber band ball. Act like you are going to throw it, but don’t. Explain that in unity the local church is stronger than if we live independently of each other.
