36 RELEASE YOUR MATE TO BE ALL GOD CREATED HER TO BE
Whatever we try to control or dominate in marriage, we will ultimately destroy.
One of the deadly cancers that eats away at marital harmony is control.
Are you a controlling and dominating spouse?
Do you find yourself correcting almost everything your mate says?
Do you have to know everywhere your mate is going and everything your mate is doing all of the time?
Every new creation in Christ has infinite potential. Your mate is filled with gifts, talents and untapped potential that will bless both you and your family.
Remember, marriage is not about you … it’s about you mate, your seed and your seed’s seed.
The tighter you try to smother who your mate is and what your mate does, the farther you will push your spouse away from you.
Affirm your mate’s gifts. See your mate the way God’s sees him—overflowing with possibilities and abundant purpose in life. Remember that your mate doesn’t belong to you. He or she belongs to Christ.
The Five Love Languages : Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch.
Try this: Read and with your spouse. Ask each other to identity some of the gifts you each possess. Pray this prayer over your spouse, “I release God’s full potential and gifting’s in your life to be used for His glory. Amen.”
There are many ways in which God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work in and through all of us who are His.
