it is the desire of God, what he wanted to do

We do not make God do anything…

it is something that brings glory to God

not because you are awesome… He is!

Today; There is only one gospel

Illustrate… everyone in KC really likes one BBQ place

place is different for everyone, they may eat at different ones at different times, but really, there is only one.

There are a lot of different religions… there are a lot of ways people will tell you that you can get to heaven, or paradise, but the truth is, there is only one gospel.

I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—7 not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are troubling you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, a curse be on him!

9 As we have said before, I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him! 10 For am I now trying to persuade people, or God?

Or am I striving to please people?

If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

The Ease of the Gospel

What is meant by ease of the gospel?

Paul was writing to the Corinthians that the gospel was too simple for some, the Jews wanted a sign and gentiles wanted wisdom.

we think that we have to do more… it has to be way more complicated…

So easy a cave man could do it…

We think that we are a challenge… we are special, the easy gospel may work for some, but you do not know what I have done

The most evil thing… those that crucified Jesus

Remember, they may have physically put him on the cross, but it was our sins that made it necessary

God does not rate sin on a scale… if you have sinned, you are in need of a savior.

So complicated that even the most simplistic testimonies are miracles that could only be done by God

every believers testimony is a story of how somebody who was chained and destined for all eternity in Hell, only to be freed by Jesus!

Yet we work to chain ourselves back up…

The Distortion of the Gospel

The telephone game with kids… there is typically one who changes it just to be that kid.

not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are troubling you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

Who would want to change the Gospel

People validate their beliefs without knowing what the Bible says, or without believing the Bible

build converts and lording over people

false religions… they will make promises to get you to convert, virgins if you martyr yourself, you will become a god if you follow the religion the right way

I promise you nothing, but Jesus.

We like to justify ourselves…

many false christians that want to boast of themselves, not of Christ.

they distort the gospel to elevate themselves… think TV evangelist… sew that seed send me some money and you will prosper.

Satan does not want you to experience the joy and freedom of the gospel

Really… it all comes from satan.

There is a joy in knowing Jesus that you will not experience any other way.

Satan wont even try to get you to do anything crazy… just take a bite of that fruit.

snuggle up to this line of sexual immorality, the Bible says flee…

A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.

I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.

But I will continue to do what I am doing, in order to deny an opportunity to those who want to be regarded as our equals in what they boast about.

13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Their end will be according to their works.

Why do people do this… they belong to Satan; you are on the side of Jesus or you are not, there is no fence sitters.

Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light

We must know Jesus…

so we can recognize the false voices when we hear them

so that we can recognize the false gospel when we hear it

so we do not mistake the false light for the true light

Satan can only disguise himself, Jesus is the true light of the world.
