What talk about connected to who you hang with
The Man Who Through the roof
The Creator is the convo is the Creator
I want you to listen to this paralyzed bedridden man give his testimony of how the Lord saved him and healed him.
Who you hand with determines what you talk about
And i want you to consider as we listen to him give his story what is our part in bringing men and women to Jesus
How handsome Joseph Smith is to a baptist
A rosary that handles well
I believe all he head knowledge is here. Everything we need to know to get started is right here.
Rebuke is not repelling
I believe all the emotional reasons to get started are hear as well.
Fellowship is not fatiguing
I believe if we would listen to this man's testimony of how he came to christ
we might be inspired to be a part of someones story of how they came to Christ.
The food is fresh
We might do our part to bring the next paralyzed man to Christ.
Leftovers are not the main course

The Story of his Problem 2:1-3

This man had hear that Jesus was in town he heard the whisperer he saw from his bed great crowds going to see him
He heard of what he was capable of and what he had done already.
THe bible says that the in Luk_5:17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
But it did not matter what he heard it would do him no good because he could not go
Paralysis prevented him
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
That is old english word for paralysis
I do not know if this man was born that way or it happened because he was sick or injured for accident.
All I do know is he was sick of it.
He could not get around.
His prison was his bed
He watched the people from all arou8nd out of town get dressed in their sunday best file past his bed and off to hear this man named Jesus this miracle worker.
He watched the kids go past and shoot him a look and say mommy why is that man laying in bed in the middle of the day.
Hush child he is paralyzed but why mom they said we talk about this later we going to see Jesus.
People can't get to Jesus many times they are paralyzed by sin and circumstances
On my way to church every Sunday I passed a man's house on the hill he got paralyzed by diving off the bridge. He was 21 and went from being the life of the party to being a paraplegic paralyzed from his neck down.
I would pass him on my bicycle on the way to church. And he be on the porch in a wheelchair he guided with his mouth I always felt guilty passing him.
But I went to the church were I heard the gospel he did not go I never saw him leave the house.
And it never occured to me till I was thinking about this man , I got saved in front of his house were I got saved. God started dealing with me when his house came in site and i was saved when i was passing it.
But he never went he stayed in his chair paralysis held him there.
There are some people that have no way to get to Jesus even if they wanted to they don't know how
Practicality prevented him
He didn't even have a wheelchair
A wheelchair is a horrible thing until you need one than it is a blessed thing.
With a wheelchair you can go places you could not go before
We went to columbia and Miss Ellie had surgery on her leg and she was going to have to stay back. But she was able to go to the waterfall and gatepae and medagin everywhere we went she was able to go cable car because the wheelchair enabled her
He did not have a wheelchair
He had a middle eastern bed like a yoga matt that you would roll up
Less practical for transporting people than a stretcher.
I hope I can take my wheelchair to heaven with me -- I know that's not biblically correct, but if I were able, I would have my wheelchair up in heaven right next to me when God gives me my brand new, glorified body. And I will then turn to Jesus and say, "Lord, do you see that wheelchair right there? Well, you were right when you said that in this world we would have trouble, because that wheelchair was a lot of trouble! But Jesus the weaker I was in that thing, the harder I leaned on you. And the harder I leaned on you, the stronger I discovered you to be. So thank you for what you did in my life through that wheelchair. And now", I always say jokingly, "you can send that wheelchair to hell, if you want."
Do you know it is just not practical for some people they cant work out the logistics in their mind.
So they sit at home alone.
Did it ever occur to you some people want to get to Jesus they just do not know how
Some people want to go to church they are just not able to work out a way practically to get there.
Went to Jason's Murphy's church there was a women there had a motorized wheelchair and it had in it a function that would raise the chair so she could see.
People Prevented him
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press.
They just did not think about him they were preoccupied with what they wanted to do.
They overlooked him
They were there not to be equipped but to be entertained.
They hindered him
There were the people there who were just standing around the door, and they couldn’t get in because of those people standing around the door. They were actually hindering people from being saved. And the ones who were hindering people from being saved were the ones who were there listening to the Lord Jesus Christ. They were the onlookers. They were the spectators.
People come in needing Jesus instead of being helpful saying right this way you can sit with me
Look at his tattoos look at the ring in his snout look at the holes in his ears who is that paralyzed man.
IF I go they will just judge me
God forbid we should keep anyone from christ the more they stink the nicer we would be the more inked up they are the more we should show them Jesus.
I mean, here was a man who was lost. They tried to get him to Jesus. And those there—people sitting there—listening to the message were the ones who were hindering this man getting to the Lord Jesus Christ. There were the hinderers.
I heard about a girl, one time, who couldn’t make up her mind which of three men she wanted to marry. There was one man who had a grocery store. She couldn’t tell whether she wanted to marry him or not, because she liked another man who had a dress shop. But she still wasn’t sure, because she was also kind of sweet on a preacher. And she said, “You know, I’ve just got a real problem.” She said, “If I marry the grocer, then I could eat for nothing; and, if I marry the man who owns the dress shop, I can dress for nothing; and, if I marry the preacher, I can be good for nothing.” There are a lot of folks like that. They’re good, but they’re good for nothing. I wonder if you are in that category.
Many of them the scribes pharisees and doctors of the law were there to try to keep the preacher in line
They were there to contain the truth not to spread the truth
Theses were the hellish
There were people who actually got upset because this old, vile sinner had come in there. And this old, vile sinner had had his sins forgiven.
And they actually criticized the Lord Jesus. You know, there are some folks who think they have the spiritual gift of criticism.
I mean, there are people in every church who feel that God has appointed and anointed them to be the critics, to show what is wrong.
They did nothing for the man offered no solution they were doing nothing but they had a lot to say about the ones that were doing nothing.
“Well, Preacher we built these buildings. We have our programs. Why don’t they just come, if they want to be saved?” I’ll tell you why they don’t come: They cannot come. You say, “Why can they not come?” They’re paralyzed. They’re paralyzed by sin. They’re paralyzed by prejudice. They’re paralyzed by ignorance. And unless we go get them and bring them, they cannot come. They’re helpless. Now you may not think they’re helpless. You may think, “Well, if they want to come, they could come.” But friend, there’s something about human nature: “There is none that seeketh after God … no, not one”

The Story of his Partners 2:3-5

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
HE said i was laying there and heard and could not come but the Lord sent someone by my way that helped me to jesus
He would say people forget that there are many people that cant get to jesus on their own you either have to bring them to Jesus or you have to bring Jesus to them.
Mat_4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
Mat_19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
Who do you know that cant come to Jesus ?
Unified Effort
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
Listen many times it takes more than one person to get someone to Jesus
They did not work alone
They may not agreed on everything but one thing they did agree on this man needs to get to Jesus
Jesus is the answer to this man's problems all we are is a means to get men to the master.
They agreed to get him there they had to do their part. They were all a small part of a big thing
You know some people would rather be a big part of a small thing than a small part of a big thing.
They’ve done a study of Canadian Geese who fly in a V-formation. They said, “Why do they do that?” They did an aerodynamic study and they found out that the lead goose—you know those geese that fly and migrate over the miles—the lead goose comes up there and he flies, and somehow he creates a vacuum for those other geese behind him. And he will fly until he gets tired; and he’ll go back, and another one becomes the lead goose. And they did a statistical analysis and they found out that geese flying in a V-formation like that can fly—are you ready for this—seventy-two percent further than a lone goose. Do you want to be a lone goose? Listen, folks. God put us together. We can do more together.
They united around a common mission
I want time had a guy went to church his job was communication in the field he said the first thing the enemy does is try to destroy communication with each other so there is no unity and they start fighting among themselves.
You know what the Church has done it has forgot the mission that he gave us preaching the gospel bring people to christ
And started fighting over everything.
In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity
The essentials Jesus is the answer it is by faith in him alone.
They may not have agreed on worship style.
We do not agree. But we have put our differences aside to get people to christ.
We do not agree all on appearance but we have put our differences aside for the cause of Christ.
And in all things we should have charity.
They were united in their love for the man on the bed . in their effort to get him to christ . they each took a corner .
When a church stops being united around a mission to get people to christ they go from mission to maintenance
And the pastor becomes a maintenance man to try to maintain relationships. A chaplain instead of an evangelist . We exist for our own gratification.
Who are you uniting with to get someone to christ.
Travis introduced to our church on facebook used to come here as a teenager. Pastor Ashton picks him up on Sunday morning.
Bro Phil takes him home.
I pick him up on Sunday night and Bro santiago takes him home.
HE was depressed no reason to live no he is happy encouraged and bringing his room mate why because some folks united in their effort.
Unsupported Effort (they were in the minority) Mar 2:2
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
There were great multitudes there but there were only four that were not there for themselves
There were only four that were excited enough about Jesus to bring someone to him.
And if you are ever going to become a voice for righteousness
A voice for Christ
If you are ever going to become a witness for the Lord
You will be in the minority
Churches that promote witnessing are in the minority.
I was talking to a lady and her Husband been to church all their adult life and in all that time they never heard about witnessing till they happened upon a baptist church. IT was new it was exciting it was different.
But even here this morning in this church were it is modeled and promoted it is in the minority.
Most of your coworkers are not witnessed tow
Most of your family members are not witnessed to most of your neighbors have not heard a gospel presentation or even been handed a tract and given and invite to church.
Most people in here do not befriend people with the gospel.
Listen you are going to be in the minority
So not get discouraged do not get mad at the crowds they are there to hear Jesus to praise the Lord.
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
We stand before the Lord alone. If you are in this minority you will want to be in that minority. The ones that the Lord rewards and comments.
Chris Bro Denson. What a blessing never a complaint took him food on Saturday.
Unsupported in the minority
John Paton missionary to the new heberties islands what is now fuiji
A Mr. Dickson exploded, “The cannibals! You will be eaten by cannibals!” The memory of Williams and Harris on Erromanga was only 19 years old. But to this Paton responded:
Mr. Dickson, you are advanced in years now, and your own prospect is soon to be laid in the grave, there to be eaten by worms; I confess to you, that if I can but live and die serving and honoring the Lord Jesus, it will make no difference to me whether I am eaten by Cannibals or by worms; and in the Great Day my Resurrection body will rise as fair as yours in the likeness of our risen Redeeme
He and his wife arrived on the island of Tanna November 5, 1858, and Mary was pregnant. The baby was born February 12, 1859. “Our island-exile thrilled with joy! But the greatest of sorrows was treading hard upon the heels of that great joy!” (p. 79). Mary had reaped attacks of ague and fever and pneumonia and diarrhea with delirium for two weeks.
Then in a moment, altogether unexpectedly, she died on March third. To crown my sorrows, and complete my loneliness, the dear baby-boy, whom we had named after her father, Peter Robert Robson, was taken from me after one week’s sickness, on the 20th of March. Let those who have ever passed through any similar darkness as of midnight feel for me; as for all others, it would be more than vain to try to paint my sorrows! (p. 79)
He dug the two graves with his own hands and buried them by the house he had built.
Stunned by that dreadful loss, in entering upon this field of labor to which the Lord had Himself so evidently led me, my reason seemed for a time almost to give way. The ever-merciful Lord sustained me . . . and that spot became my sacred and much- frequented shrine, during all the following months and years when I labored on for the salvation of the savage Islanders amidst difficulties, dangers, and deaths. . . . But for Jesus, and the fellowship he vouchsafed to me there, I must have gone mad and died beside the lonely grave
But he led the whole island to the Lord.
If it weren't for men in the minority all those heathens and savages would be in hell
Are you ready to be in the minority
Hard work to get a man on the roof
Hard work to break through the tiling
Hard work to place a man at the feet of Jesus
But the multitudes are not going to do it
If you don't who else will
Uncertain Effort (it took faith)
No guarantees it takes faith
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
THere is no guarantee they will be healed
No guarantee they will believe in Christ and get their sins forgiven.
No guarantee you can find a way to get them to his feet.
But there is a grantee he will see your faith in him as the answer and he likes that
Without faith it is impossible to please him.
THAT was more than his friends expected; they only thought of his body being made whole. So let us bring our friends to Christ, and we shall get more than we expect.
The Lord met this man’s deepest need first. It may be his sins had brought on the palsy, so the Lord forgave the man’s sin first of all.
Do you have faith to witness though uncertain?

The Story of his Pardoning 2:5-11

The Hearing Mar 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
I heard God from my sick bed
I heard his voice for the first time he began to communicate with me.
I once had communication with the Lord as a little child But something went wrong with my radio.
I was drifting away on life’s pitiless sea,
And the angry waves threatened my ruin to be,
When away at my side, there I dimly descried,
A stately old vessel, and loudly I cried:
Ship ahoy! Ship ahoy!
And loudly I cried: Ship ahoy!
2. ’Twas the old ship of Zion, thus sailing along,
All aboard her seemed joyous, I heard their sweet song;
And the captain’s kind ear, ever ready to hear,
Caught my wail of distress, as I cried out in fear:
Ship ahoy! Ship ahoy!
As I cried out in fear: Ship ahoy!
3. The good captain commanded a boat to be low’red,
And with tender compassion He took me on board;
And I’m happy today, all my sins washed away
In the blood of my Savior, and now I can say:
Bless the Lord! Bless the Lord!
From my soul I can say: Bless the Lord!
Communication was restored I heard him
The Happiness Matt 9:2
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
With my sins forgiven I can be of good cheer whether i am on my bed of paralysis or I am on a throne reigning a kingdom.
All that thrills my soul is Jesus;
He is more than life to me; (to me;)
And the fairest of ten thousand,
In my blessed Lord I see.
The Healing Mar 2:11
He gave him healing as well

The Story of his Publicity 2:10-12

The Reason Mar 2:10
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
Not only did he forgive my sins a restore joy to my soul and give me happiness but he healed me. I can walk
I got a lot more than I bargained for when I came to Jesus
I was looking for fire insurance
I found a healer he has healed so much of what sin did to me and still is.
But there was a reason he healed him
But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
He wanted me to be a testimony of what he had for to me
The judgment is not a negotiation like most people think it is
The power to forgive sins is on earth not in heaven
Once you leave this world it is too late there is nothing he can do.
How can we know that the sins are forgiven ?
The Responsibility Mar 2:11
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
He said he did some things for me I could not do for myself but he than required me to do something on the outside that showed what he did on the outside
We have a responsibility to live a changed life after we come to the Lord
I heard a man tell a story, something that happened in Chicago. A man was driving his family; they were on vacation. He got sleepy. He said to his wife, “I need to sleep. Would you drive the automobile and let me sleep?” The two children were in the backseat. He slipped over, and she got behind the wheel and began to drive. It was late at night. A misting rain started to fall; the roads became slick. She tried to negotiate a curb; the car went into a skid, skidded around, and went off the road, down the embankment, over and over and over.
And while it was flipping over and over, the driver’s door on the driver’s side flew open, and she was thrown out into the air. The door slammed again, and the car went over and over again and finally landed, with the engine running, on all four wheels. The women, dazed, got up and felt she had no broken bones; she was all right. She looked. Down there in the ditch was the car. Her husband, who had hit his head on the doorpost of the car, was unconscious. The two children were awake, and crying in the backseat. She slid down the bank and went to open the door to get them out, but the doors of that automobile were jammed because the frame on the car had been twisted, and she could not.
She struggled with all of her might to open the doors; she could not open the door, the husband still knocked unconscious, the children crying. She looked, and what she feared she would see, she did see. Underneath that car was that orange glow: fire had begun underneath that car. She tried to find something to break the windows. She could not. She struggled with all of her strength to open the doors. She could not. She tried to waken her husband. She could not. The fire was beginning to spread. She went up the bank, onto that road, in that rain, that night, that inking darkness, and she began to wave her hands to try to stop automobiles. But they just kept going past—kept going past, kept going past, kept going past.
She began to scream and to plead and to say, “Stop! Please stop! Stop! Help me!” The car stopped; a man rolled down the window. She told the man what had happened and said “Come, look, see.” The man got out of his car into the rain, walked down the embankment, and saw what was happening; then turned around and said, “Lady, I don’t want to get involved,” got in his car, and drove off. She began to plead with others to stop, and no one would stop. The little children had their noses pressed against the glass, saying, “Mommy, do something.” But that women stood there and watched her children and her husband perish in those flames.
I know what you’re thinking—and I’m saying the same thing: Something ought to be done to that man that drove off.
But I wonder this morning if the Holy Spirit of God is not standing, waving His arms at you, and saying, “Hey! Stop!”
We have a responsibility just like that man did so people can know they can be forgiven here on earth.
The Result Mar 2:12
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
Listen. You’ve got a neighbor; you’ve got a brother; you’ve got a sister; you’ve got a father; you have a friend, who’s going to perish and die without Christ, and be eternally lost. Stop those things, my friend, that you think are important, may be important, but only relatively important to the Great Commission of bringing people to Jesus Christ. As your pastor, as your friend, as your brother in Jesus, can I ask you to have a compassionate, a creative, a cooperative, a courageous, and a costly concern?
Would you join me? Would you say, “Pastor, Pastor, Pastor, in the Show Place Arena Crusade, I’m going to let God use me. You can count on me, Pastor. I’m going to be a part of the team, and I’m going to do what I can do to get people to Jesus Christ”? God help you to do it. God help us to do it.
