The Debarkation Of Noah
Intro.
And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying, 16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him: 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
Intro.
Finally able to put their feet back on firm ground…it must have brought peace and relief to descend from the ark to a new normal.
God is going to restore Noah to the earth, but the earth is not the same as the world Noah once knew.
The Circumstance For The Debarkation
The transformation in circumstances
“The earth dried”-
“The earth dried” ()
These words indicate both the change from flood to dry conditions, but, also, the extreme change in the physical earth.
Butler, J. G. (2007).
Noah: The Ark Builder (Vol.
Number Twenty-Three, p. 119).
Clinton, IA: LBC Publications.
This was not a homecoming because the world they returned to was completely different than the world they left.
They debarked in a location that would soon be inhabitable for people, so, much travel and moving would have to take place.
Even though we wonder how far Noah had travelled during the flood it wouldn’t take long for Noah and his family to realize it didn’t matter how far they travelled because literally nothing of their old world remained(no roads, cities, or even landmarks).
This was a complete reset, though Noah and his family had brought some possessions with them on the ark, it would have been so limited as to be inconsequential.
Every earthly feature was new, every man-made structure was destroyed, every human being dead, and every animal dead.
Nothing, but what was on the ark survived.
When God executes judgment, and consequence follows the new beginning is a complete reset, you cannot spend your life looking back at what was or trying to regain what was lost.
You must build it all brand new and God’s way.
The time in the circumstance
The specifics in the time
“In the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month … God spake unto Noah saying, Go forth of the ark”-
“In the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month … God spake unto Noah saying, Go forth of the ark” ()
Noah did not wait around or gather himself.
When God said it was time to get off the ark, Noah left the ark.
Butler, J. G. (2007).
Noah: The Ark Builder (Vol.
Number Twenty-Three, p. 121).
Clinton, IA: LBC Publications.
The specifics as to the time lend validity to the floods historocity
The suffering in the time
“In the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month … God spake unto Noah saying, Go forth of the ark”-
The Command For The Debarkation
I’m sure being confined to the ark for over a year was not a great time, it was not a place of good times and fond memories, but it was a place of God’s protection and provision.
God often confines His people in order to protect and provide for them.
Joseph was confined to prison to gain an education in the Egyptian law he would later use in their own court system as a ruler- ,
Elijah was confined to the brook Cherith to protect him from Ahab- ,
Paul was repeatedly confined to protect him from his enemies who wanted to kill him- ; , ; .
Moses was confined to the backside of the desert to protect him from Pharaoh and allow him to mature spiritually and physically to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt - ,
John was confined on the Isle of Patmos to preserve his life so he could write Revelation-
We are always pleased when the confinement is lifted, but with out the confinement none of these men, nor would we, have a future.
Don’t fight God’s confinement in your life, submit to it and find peace in God’s protection instead of thinking God is punishing you.
The terra firma in the circumstances
“The earth dried”-
Butler, J. G. (2007).
Noah: The Ark Builder (Vol.
Number Twenty-Three, p. 123).
Clinton, IA: LBC Publications.
The stability of the terra firma
This is a statement of progression from the statement that the ground was dry.
Had Noah left the ark when the ground was dry it would have been a mess and dangerous for both his family and the animals.
The earth not being dry would have created massive mud pits, sink holes and other dangers that would have led to injury and even death.
The suitableness of the terra firma
God didn’t order Noah or the animals release until the conditions were suitable.
God won’t order your release until the conditions are suitable either.
We want things to happen now, but if you arrived in your future circumstances in your or their present conditions it would be a good thing.
Wait on gos allow Him to prepare the conditions and things will work out.
Not waiting for God to prepare the conditions is like a construction crew not waiting for the foundation to dry to build on it.
It won’t end well.
We do more harm than good when we are not patient.
Failure is all but guaranteed for the impatient.
Success is guaranteed for the patient.
The Command For The Debarkation
The duty in the command
“Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee”- ,
The parts in the duty
“Go forth … Bring forth”- ,
Go forth is what Noah must do himself
Butler, J. G. (2007).
Noah: The Ark Builder (Vol.
Number Twenty-Three, p. 125).
Clinton, IA: LBC Publications.
Noah must leave the ark himself
Bring forth is what Noah must do to help others
Noah must lead others to leave the ark
The priority in the duty
Butler, J. G. (2007).
Noah: The Ark Builder (Vol.
Number Twenty-Three, p. 125).
Clinton, IA: LBC Publications.
The priority is that you must first do what you aspire to lead others to do.
The second part is that you must “Come” into the ark to “Go forth” from the ark.
The “Coming” into the ark is the difficult part you have to “Come” to God despite the influence and mockery of the world if you wish to “Go forth” with God into the a new life.
“Come” is the defeat “Go” is victory.
Too many people want to “Go forth” triumphantly, without “Coming” in defeat.
The design in the command
“That they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth”-
God’s commands are always full of purpose and design
