A Spirit-Filled Sermon

I. ELEMENTS OF A GOOD SERMON

A. Prayer. Prayer by the pastor as he studies, as well as support from the congregation is needed to make a power-packed sermon.

B. Scripture. When the Scriptures are used in a sermon, there will be results ().

C. Reception. The listeners must be interested in hearing the Word. Regardless of the speaker or sermon content, the sermon will not be a success unless the people are receptive.

II. THE INTRODUCTION—vv.

A. Person—v. . Peter, who had denied the Lord seven weeks earlier, was now a new man. What made the difference? He was one of the 120 people in the upper room who received the Holy Spirit.

B. Problem—v. . The Christians were not drunken as the non-Christians suspected.

C. Prophecy—v. . The prophecy of , was now being fulfilled. The people in the New Testament would experience the fulness of the Holy Spirit.

III. THE IMPACT—vv.

A. Proof—v. . Christ was approved of God. Christ was not only the Son of God, but the promised Messiah. He proved this by His miracles and wonders. Peter used in his sermon.

B. Prophecy—v. . Christ was crucified according to the Old Testament Scriptures (; ). Though these men were sinful, they fulfilled the Old Testament Scriptures.

C. Power—v. . Christ overcomes death. He came to give life (). He is victorious over death.

IV. THE INSPIRATION—vv.

A. Remembrance—v. . God did not forget Christ (). If Christ had not risen, His words and teachings would have been proven untrue.

B. Resurrection—vv. . After the resurrection, Christ was on earth for forty days. He then ascended into heaven (). He is now sitting at the right hand of God.

C. Reality—vv. . David is not speaking of himself; He is speaking of Christ. (Note v. , that the Jews had crucified Jesus who was the Lord and Christ.)

V. THE INVITATION—vv.

A. People—v. . The people were convicted. They asked what they needed to do to be saved.

B. Plan—v. .

1. Repent. Change your way of living.

2. Be baptized as an outward sign of your salvation.

3. You will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

C. Promise—v. . This promise (salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit) is to all people of all generations.
