We are here today as family and friends, in the presence of God, to celebrate with Chris Fairman and Erin Kennedy on their wedding day.

It is therefore fitting that we should be gathered here in the sight of God to witness the vows of Chris and Erin, and by our presence and prayers to bless their union.

Marriage is a beautiful union of two souls in love, who are bound to one another by their commitment to love one another for the rest of their lives.

Please join me as we begin in prayer:

Father God, you are the creator of love and marriage.

Thank you for bringing Chris and Erin together.

Thank you for the love that they have for one another that has brought them to this day.

Please bless their marriage, guide their new life together, watch over them, and help them keep the fire of their love burning bright.

Amen.

Father God, we are so grateful that you, the creator of heaven and earth, love us, care about us, and listen to our prayers.

Lord, we ask that you would bless Chris and Erin today and every day in their marriage.

Help them to keep you as the foundation of their lives, and to love one another in good times and bad.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus.

Marriage today can be very misunderstood.

It is not just some social convention that humans created.

Marriage was created by God in the very beginning.

When God created the first man, he looked at him in the garden all alone and said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.

I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Marriage was God’s idea.

The very first man and woman were two people, but they lived and loved together as one.

That’s arriage was God’s idea.

So Chris, since it is not good for you to be alone either, I believe that God also made Erin for you.

And Erin, I believe God has also made Chris for you.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Today, you will say your vows and have a big celebration, but I want you to remember this: just as the first marriage was just the beginning of the story, today is only the beginning of your story.

There are many years ahead that are yet to be written.

So celebrate today, but tomorrow and the days, months, and many years after that, remember this day and the vows you have made to one another.

Like all great stories, yours will have its ups and downs and its encounter with heroes and villains.

When times are hard, remember your promise that you will be one.

You are on the same team, and you are fighting against the bad things of this world together.

And when times are good, remember that it is because God has blessed you and set you on this wonderful path of marriage together.

Your love will only grow if you walk side-by-side on this journey with Christ at the center.

Chris and Erin, you arrived at the altar today as two separate people, but you will leave today as one.

May God bless your marriage.

May your marriage remain strong through your continued faith in Him.

And may you always look back on this day years from now as a joyous beginning to your grand and wonderful adventure.

Vows of Commitment

Please face each other and join hands to repeat your vows of commitment.

We will start with Chris.

I, Chris, take you, Erin, to be my wife.

I promise and covenant before God and these witnesses to be your loving and faithful husband - in plenty and in want, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in good times and hard times, with God’s grace and strength, as long as we both shall live.

Exchange of Rings

Chris and Erin will now exchange rings as a symbol of their commitment to each other.

May I have the rings, please.

These rings are to be a reminder of the promise you have made today.

Notice the circle of the ring has no beginning and no end.

It is an eternal circle meant to represent your life-long vow to love each other.

The ring is also made from purified precious metals, symbolic of the purity of your promise to remain faithful to each other.

Erin, please put this ring on Chris’ finger and repeat after me:

Chris, you may kiss your bride.

You have come before us and before God and have expressed your desire to be husband and wife.

You have shown your love and affection by joining hands, have made promises of faith and devotion to each other, and have sealed these promises by the giving and receiving of rings.
