This message from God's word is being brought to you by Brother Kyle Rye at the Scenic Hills Church of Christ in Pensacola, Florida about the mother. The scripture reading is from Luke chapter 1 verses 26 through 38 month that is of Elizabeth's pregnancy with John the Baptist. The angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee Nazareth to a virgin betrothed to a Man of the House of David The Virgins name was Mary angel said to her Joyce highly favored one. The Lord is with you blessed. Are you among women but when she saw him she was troubled at his saying and considered what manner of greeting this was. Angel said to her be afraid.

Labor with God and behold you will conceive in your room and bring forth a son and she'll call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the highest and the Lord. God will give him his father David and his kingdom then Mary said to the angel. How can this be since I do not know what man and the angel answered and said to her the holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the highest will overshadow you also that who is to be born will be called The Son of God now indeed Elizabeth, your relative has a son in her old age. And this is now the sixth month for her who is called Baron. For with God nothing will be impossible. Then Mary said behold the maidservant of the Lord, let it be to your word and the angel departed from her. and now brother Rye

since 1914 on the second Monday of every may we have observed Mother's Day? But the truth is we don't honor mothers because it is culturally acceptable or commercially from promoted. We are mothers because our God instructed us to honor our fathers in our mothers. Remember a story that I've known as a mother and her four-year-old daughter who were walking through the park one day and a four-year-old noticed something on the ground and has young children have a course that 4 year old child asked. Emily begin to Rattle off all kinds of reasons, you know, she said things like on the ground we don't know who touched to eat that. The daughter was helping her mother with eyes full of admiration.

How do you know all the stuff in the mother said very quickly?

It was obvious little girl was contemplating what her mom and suddenly she goes.

If you don't pass the mommy test then you have to be a daddy.

It's in Proverbs chapter 23. That's awesome instructor children to let your father and your mother be glad let her Who Bore you rejoice. There's some significance in those instructions reasons to stress. And today I want us to examine the mother of Jesus Mary. I want us to look at her life as a mother and see all the things that she had to deal with all this stress. She had overcome the more importantly to see how she dealt with them. Mary didn't have a child. That was disobedient child. She had to worry about talking back to her. She didn't have a child disobeying her going behind her what he wasn't supposed. She didn't have a child that she had to worry about doing the wrong thing. I know what you're thinking is mothers and fathers, that would be nice. But that doesn't mean Mary didn't have other unique challenges to face as a mother. And the fact that Mary had to deal with difficult circumstances that she had off that does not make her a model mother that just makes her a normal mother. What makes her a model mother was her response from the beginning of her assignment as a mother her response when God's messenger informed her that she would be the mother of God telephone hearing that news. She immediately responded Luke chapter 1 verse 38 saying behold. I am the servant of the Lord. I am the servant of the Lord let it be to me according to your word. There was submission in her response. There was a voluntary willingness to do whatever the Lord needed her to do. That's the reason she found favor with God is verse 30 of that chapter says that's the reason she is the mother.

She was a servant first and foremost to the Lord. She was willing to accept the challenges.

So what did she have to do with? What we know from the get-go. That she dealt with it by being God's servant first and foremost the What specifically did she has to deal with will think about it Mary had to deal with an unplanned pregnancy? Angels Mary informed her that she's going to be pregnant. She doesn't understand how this teenage young woman is now facing a pregnancy. She did not anticipate that stage of life. Especially since she was only engaged to a man.

So now this challenge of an unplanned pregnancy because of her unplanned pregnancy and her marital status or lack thereof. She's now dealing with an unfavorable reputation has learned about her pregnancy and now he's considering what he should do. He's weighing the options.

He's engaged to her but all evidence points to the fact that she's been unfaithful to him. A man who saw God's will that he being a just man and one being and being unwilling to put her to shame result to divorce her quietly.

He believes at this moment that she has been unfaithful to him, but he loves are too much. to embarrass her So what he's going to do is to do this quietly. Her reputation was already painted in the eyes of Joseph to the point that he was

Of course Joseph could have taken more Extreme Measures. Then just quietly divorcing her according to Deuteronomy chapter 22 Joseph had the right to have Mary executed because Mosaic law said that if there is a betrothed bring them both out to the gate and violated his evil from your missed. conditions on which Mary became pregnant in their eyes So ultimately Joseph could have taken those Extreme Measures.

Pariser so obviously he loves her too much. the executor

if her reputation was tainted in the eyes of someone who loved her so much someone who who was unwilling to harm her because he loved her so much and how much more would her reputation be tainted in the eyes of those affection for her. You see not everyone was going to believe the Holy Spirit store. In fact it took Angelic intervention for Joseph to come around on it.

Life as a mother dealing with an unplanned pregnancy dealing with an unfavorable reputation and many parents deal with the saint. Many parents deal with an unplanned pregnancy mini parents deal with an unfavorable reputation.

Ameri was no exception all of the challenges that come with those circumstances. We're faced by Mary. But she was willing to face those challenges because she was the servant of the Lord.

Mary had to deal with more than just this unplanned pregnancy in this unfavorable reputation. She also had to deal with that jet prop poverty Joseph and Mary were not well off the description of Jesus's birth reveals that to us.

Like we surrounded by animals definitely not the most sanitary location to give birth to chapter 2 verse 7 says but it does indicate to us that they lack the funds to secure better accommodations someone with money stack that the rooms are all taken at the local hotel. More definitive example Mary Josephson power status semen, they visit the temple and Jesus just eight days old. They go there in order to dedicate Jesus to the Lord as was the custom in the Mosaic law official obligation. So she would be following the birthing process before mother was instructed to sacrifice a lamb and a young pigeon.

But she couldn't afford a lamb. She had to go sacrifice. Two birds either two turtle doves or two pigeon. Expensive sacrificial option, but regardless you as a new mother had to go make this sacrifice to redeem pure again. When we go to reverse 24, we see that Mary made the less-expensive sacrifice. She offered two turtle doves two pigeons or two pigeons as opposed to land and have the funds to do the more expensive sacrifice. They were not well off.

They dealt with financial struggles early on. many parents deal with financial struggles mini parents hurt to pay the bills sometimes and have to choose options that are less than desirable to make ends meet.

Mary was no exception. All the hurdles that come with financial restraints were faced by Mary, but she was willing to face those hurdles because she was the servant. of the Lord also had to deal with some unique knowledge and awareness you and I will likely never have to face. Definitely would never have to face a child uniqueness ultimate demise as well. Some specific events for Treasure by Mary and her heart in verse 19 of chapter 2 verse 51 chapter 2 where were told that Mary treasured the visit of the Shepherds Shepherds that came to see Jesus tonight. He was born they were told by an Angel that there is they were technology confirming that Jesus was the Messiah because they were weather By Angels a little later

doing there. When Jesus and his parents travel to Jerusalem, he was only twelve years old. They were there to celebrate Passover when Jesus remained in Jerusalem is Paris began that what we haven't yet. We will probably one day. Anyway, you have this moment with a parents separated from the shop.

They confront him to us for Jesus's response was did you not know that I must be about my father's business and Mary treasured that in her heart.

You see all of these moments ever Treasure by her were moments where she's realizing messenger who came to her and said you're going to bed or the son of God.

imagine That your son was a child of God. Imagine knowing that your son was the one prophesied about is he married like other Jewish adherents would have been aware of the Messianic prophecies.

The Messianic prophecies that not only foretold his coming. But also foretold his death. Prophecy such as the suffering servant servant passage of Isaiah Isaiah 53 a Man of Sorrows acquainted with grief verse 5. He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities by his stripes. We are healed verse 7, he was oppressed and was afflicted. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. How do you feel as a parent knowing those words are written about your child?

Imagine living with the knowledge that your son is going to be beating that your son is going to suffer that your son is going to die as a part of God's plan. From the day he was born, you know.

He's going to suffer. It certainly didn't help that when she was at the Temple of Jesus at 8 days old. She ran into a guy named Simeon.

A simian approached her and he said this and verse 34 Loop to behold. This child is destined for the fall and rise in Israel. Sounds bad is what he said next in verse 35 when he spoke directly to Mary. He said a sword will pierce through your own soul. He was prophesying her own Paints in her own Agony that would associate with his death.

She was told it was going to hurt.

Now imagine living with that knowledge.

Many parents worry about their children's future.

Well here she finish school.

Will my child choose wise friends? Will my child remain faithful to God? there is no exception although her situation was

From the word go Mary and Jesus is Earthly future was bleak. But she was willing to endure that knowledge because she was a servant of the Lord.

I had to deal with the responsibility of protecting her child.

Excuse me, sir. Matthew Chapter 2 to be learned that Joseph and Mary had to relocate to Egypt shortly after Jesus was born because King Herod had learned about his birth and ordered the execution of every male child under the age of 2 in that region. Messiah was coming. He was going to do everything from coming into the world to protect his home from. Joseph had to leave their home and leave their families had to leave their nation in order to protect their child the burden of protecting Jesus from the plot of King Herod. How many parents do with protecting your children they worry about what they eat and how they have on the Mary was no exception in your child or face by Mary but she was willing to face those dresses because she was a servant of the Lord.

Jesus and his parents were separated during Passover feast in Jerusalem.

At the conclusion of the study assuming that he was riding with a friend or neighbor. When Joseph and Mary realize that Jesus wasn't with them. They surely panicked. their son

Who was entrusted to their care was missing? The child that they protected from King Herod when they escaped to Egypt is no longer under their sphere protection at that moment.

Many parents do with being separated from their children. Person summer situation separated because they voluntarily gave herself because their child has intentionally left the home. regardless of the circumstances mini parents long for a child that is distant from them. Ameri was no exception.

Being separated from your child over Facebook Mary and she was able to face that pain because she was a servant of the Lord.

And Mary had to deal with raising a family as a single parent. Scripture never mentions Joseph again after that trip to Jerusalem when Jesus was 12 years old. It's likely that his absence.

When Jesus attended the wedding at Cana only his mother was there in John chapter 2 verse 1 Brothers. Likewise when Jesus his family came to visit him during his ministry and he was in this house surrounded by all these people and they couldn't get even get to him or his mother's his mother and his brothers. And as Jesus hung on the cross. Only his mother was present in John chapter 19. And it's unlikely that Jesus would need to assign someone to care for his mother like you did with John if his father was still alive. So somewhere between the age of 12 and started his ministry is it seems apparent that he lost his Earthly father? And Mary lost her husband. many parents deal with raising children by themselves

and deal with the challenges of being both mother and father.

Carrying the burdens of the family all on their shoulders. Mary appears to be no exception oneself would likely face by Mary. But she was able to face those struggles because she was a servant of the Lord.

And Mary had to deal with letting go of her child. Letting him strike out on his own letting him become an individual letting him leave the home. We was time his ministry when he was 30 years old according to Luke chapter 3 verse 23 in the first thing you did was spend time alone in the wilderness facing off with the Devil. He was no longer under the protective guardianship of his mother. And I was his ministry in popularity grew his time was devoted to teaching and there was a lot less time to be with family. I want to see cleric Asian. He was unable to meet his mother because there's so many people crowded around him. It's 21 and when she relation ship with those who hear the word of God and do it over his relationship with his Earthly family. He was indicating that his mission was prioritized over his family. I'm sure that hurt a little bit for his mother. I'm certain she was also proud as he was doing the work of the Lord for filling his Grand Mission of seeking and saving the Lost. And many parents deal with those same heartaches that come with letting your children go. Especially those who watch their children go off to college.

Move to a new city. or even get married Mary was no exception. All the discomfort that comes with letting your child go they were faced by Mary. She was able to face that discomfort because she was a servant of the Lord.

Mary had to deal with her child preceding her in death. Present for the crucifixion of Jesus from the crowd he heard the words from the cross witness the pain and Agony when the nails were driven through his hands and feet. She saw it all. And there was nothing she could do to stop.

the mother Who along with her husband protected a toddler from the parts of a king? We're helpless against the parts of a mob.

And so she had to watch him die.

way too young many parents deal with the pain of losing their children. the grief that comes with always wondering what if Wishing they could change. The way they handled things in the past. Mary was no exception of dealing with that pain.

of the Lord

remember the fact that made her a model mother. It was her willingness to submit to the will of God.

That made her a model mother. And so today We examined her submission to God impacted her entire life even during his darkest moment, and we're off to take up your cross to follow him. So as we bring this lesson to close I simply want you to consider whether or not you submitted to your heavenly father.

Maybe heaven maybe you've never made the decision to become his child by confessing your faith in Jesus as the Son of God repeating of your sins and being immersed in water, and maybe that's a decision you need to make today.

Or maybe you made the decision to become a child of God, but you've neglected the relationship. And it's time to put God back in the driver's seat as your heavenly father. Whatever you need is this morning? Let the model mother remind us that we're called to submit to our Heavenly Father once you do that today while Together We Stand and sing.
