A Mother Figure

Mother is about Motherhood!

All have an innate spirit of mothering, but not all embrace it.

Mother as Older Women.

Do all Mothers have natural born Children?

Adoption legally and by nature (caring).

Mother-in-Law.

Women longed to be Mothers.

Hannah (1 Samuel 1:10), Jephtah’s daughter (Judges 11:38)

2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.

4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

Respect your Mother and those who take on the role of Mothering!

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

Mothering is about sourcing (being a source)!

16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

Mary became a Source!

A birth channel for the good news;

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Mary, unselfishly gave her will to the LORD!

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.

And the angel departed from her.

The Mother of the child in the text was willing to give up her will (desire), her child, so the child could have life.

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.
