Intro

This is the over simplified version but it tells the story well. I want to
Elimelech - “my God is King”
Naomi - “my delight”
Mahlon - “sick”
Chilion - “pining” - to fail gradually in health from grief, regret and longing
Orpah - “gazelle”
Ruth - “friendship”
It’s not mentioned what happens to Orpah. My conclusion is that she acted like a gazelle.
Ruth 2:1 NKJV
1 There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.
The one she was in covenant with, already was connected to what would later provide for her.
Try again: My God who is King, that knew what He was doing would had already set it up to take care of his delight by saving Boaz for her.
Ruth 1:6 NKJV
6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread.

Note: God could be waiting for you to impart life into someone that’s more connected than someone that is from your own body.

To all the mom’s that have been faithful to their assignments apart from their wound thank you!
Here’s what I want to argue...
Today is about you understanding why it feels unfair AND moreso to thank you for baring.
Story of Ruth and Naomi
You can’t read the text and not follow the storyline of Naomi and your heart doesn’t go out to her.
Her husband dies
both boys - Malon and Chilon die
Being older she has to move
She curses her own being
Ruth 1:21 NKJV
21 I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”
Did you hear that? She says
I think she thinks there’s something wrong with her. But she hadn’t done anything that she could point to that was wrong.
She clearly doesn’t have the same inventory that God does. She thinks there’s nothing else left in her.
Ruth 1:20–21 NKJV
20 But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. 21 I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”
ru 1:20-21
But God says, you’ve got more than you thought you had in you.

PAIN

one of the hardest things to do is accept what looks wrong when you can’t point to what to what you’ve done to deserve what you’re getting.
I don’t know what Naomi’s ultimate purpose was in the mind of God but it one thing for sure it was to her to Boaz!
She’d lived with Pain all her life. Her children’s names proves it.
Then her coaching kicks in
Coaches can’t coach if they haven’t experienced pain. Critics, criticism, failures, taking the long way.
Ruth
Moms, your pain has purpose.
Revelation: You'd din’t understand why you had to go through it, you went through for somebody that’s coming along.
Moms thank you for what you went through so we don’t have to!!!!!
Connect the dots…God knew we’d need your experience. Even when you didn’t know what He was doing, you went along anyway.

Proximity to

Who is this?
Ruth 2:19–23 NKJV
19 And her mother-in-law said to her, “Where have you gleaned today? And where did you work? Blessed be the one who took notice of you.” So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, “The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.” 20 Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Blessed be he of the Lord, who has not forsaken His kindness to the living and the dead!” And Naomi said to her, “This man is a relation of ours, one of our close relatives.” 21 Ruth the Moabitess said, “He also said to me, ‘You shall stay close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’ ” 22 And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and that people do not meet you in any other field.” 23 So she stayed close by the young women of Boaz, to glean until the end of barley harvest and wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.

Prepared

Ruth 2:8 NKJV
8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women.

VIDEO

not all young women are the same. she’d done some coaching. “stay close to my young women”
Modernize: Who are your parents? What do their parents do? Are they married?
There’s this “thing” that moms have that dads don’t.

Push

Matthew 1:1-16
Ruth 3:1–4 NKJV
1 Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you? 2 Now Boaz, whose young women you were with, is he not our relative? In fact, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. 3 Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. 4 Then it shall be, when he lies down, that you shall notice the place where he lies; and you shall go in, uncover his feet, and lie down; and he will tell you what you should do.”
ruth 3:1-
Mother’s, thank you for pushing us. You can push us because He pushed you! When you thought He was being insensitive and putting more on you than you could bare, you didn’t tell Him to stop pushing you!
I need to tell the Naomi’s, do what your Ruth says!
Ruth 3:3 NKJV
3 Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.
Naomi, couldn’t see in her grief, why she was being treated so poorly, until now!
Matthew 1:1–16 NKJV
1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: 2 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. 4 Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. 5 Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, 6 and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. 7 Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa. 8 Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. 9 Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah. 11 Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon. 12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel. 13 Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. 14 Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. 15 Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. 16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
Mother’s stop thinking your press doesn’t matter. Being a mother can be a thankless job, but you haven’t heard the thank you that matters. Well done, good and faithful!!!!!
If being the one responsible for putting the grandmother of Jesus in line doesn’t matter to you but to me, I’m grateful for this mother!
Here’s the problem, you’re looking too low. You’re looking at your limited life line, you’ve got to look higher!
His thoughts are not our thoughts His ways aren’t our ways!
