A. Eve - son Cain who killed his brother
B. Sarah(barren) - influenced her own husband to sleep w/his handmaid Hagar

C. Rebekah - loses 2 sons because they became rivals, after she influenced Jacob to deceive his father/her husband for the inheritance.
Mother’s Block - Defend at all cost
Don’t choose character over prosperity
Some Mother’s suffer because they try to live out their failures by engaging so deeply in their child(ren) accomplishments, by drawing attention to themselves & becoming very competitive.
Salome - zealous for her sons
Laudable when it comes into alignment w/the Word of God & His purpose.
Don’t allow the ambitions of your child cost you to be humiliated.
If you selfishly pursue to be noble, you will lose respect.
She knew she was privileged…her sons James & John were disciples of Christ(close).
She requested that her son’s be on each side of Christ in the Kingdom.
Request from maternal pride doesn’t come from real faith.
Jesus rebukes Salome for her erroneous zeal…reproof(correction).
Intimacy w/Christ means fellowship & requires suffering.
Christ still shows us compassion in our incomprehensible state of mind
