The Resurrection Changes Everything (2008)

ふっかつはつべてをかえる!

1 Corinthians 15:12-34

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which Christians know occurred on the third day after his crucifixion around AD 33.

I. The Importance of the Resurrection (12-14)

  • The resurrection of Christ is the center of the Christian Faith

Because Jesus arose/ there are 4 things to consider:

1. God keeps his promises, what God has said in His word He will do!

2.  We can be certain that our sins are forgiven.

3.  Jesus is Alive and represents us to God.

4.  Death was defeated and in the future we will also rise.

II. DOCTRINAL PROOF OF THE RESSURECTION (20-28)

  • Paul deals with the Bible doctrine of “the two Adams.”
  • Through Adam’s sin death came into the world
  • Through Christ death has been conquered.
  • Christ is the first of a great harvest that is yet to come.
  • Christ will reverse the wrong that the first Adam brought into this world.
  • When Christ comes, the dead in Christ will be raised (v. 23)
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 *But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
  • Jesus will put all things under His feet, including death.
  • To deny the resurrection is to deny the future kingdom of Christ.

III. EXHORTATION IN LIGHT OF THE EMPTY TOMB(29-34)

  • Vs. 30-32- If the Resurrection never happened, we might as well quit making sacrifices for Christ and dedicate our lives to pleasure .
  • Christ has been raised, we should follow holiness.
  • Vs. 29- Paul did not support baptism for the dead
  • He pointed out that the practice is meaningless if there is no resurrection.
  • There is no biblical support for baptism for the dead.
  • To die lost is to remain forever lost (Luke 16:19–31; Heb. 9:27).

In Closing

1. Think of our physical bodies, sometimes we get sick, and we become weak and tired, when a person dies their body decays; we are human; and we came from dust.

2. But the resurrection body will never die, it is full of Glory & Strength; it is super human ; Spiritual; and comes from Heaven

  • All believers are promised a Resurrected body like Christ)

1 Corinthians 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
