Introduction

Text -
Micah 7:8–10 NKJV
8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me. 9 I will bear the indignation of the Lord, Because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case And executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness. 10 Then she who is my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will see her; Now she will be trampled down Like mud in the streets.
Title - How To Rise When You Fall
Intro Word
When a child of God falls, the enemy celebrates!
But, it is not the end of the world.
But a child of God must know how to go through his dark times in order to rise up in triumph.

Main Points

The child of God has a blessed assurance

- the Lord will be a light unto me
In the darkness of your failure, God sends you His Light - His Word
- Your Word…a lamp to my feet…a light to my path
In the darkness of your circumstance, the Word of God is what you need most to sort things out
Although God has promised us His Word, we must open it up and seek ITS guidance by reading and meditation.

The child of God has a right action

- “I will bear the indignation of the Lord...”
bear - to endure something unpleasant
indignation - intense anger
Bear the indignation because you have sinned before God
sin is the only thing that can come between God and His child
Isaiah 59:1–3 NKJV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. 3 For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.
Isaiah 59.1-
to bear means to endure, and implies
humble acknowledgment of one’s sin
humble recognition of God’s righteous judgment
Example:
King David -

The child of God has a hopeful anticipation

- “…until He pleads my case and executes justice for me.”
plead my case - a legal term, it means to “argue on my behalf in a legal proceeding”; to defend
in the text Micah stands is behalf of Israel, whose faith rested on the coming Messiah
When a child of God acknowledges his sin and humbles himself before God, God TAKES HIS SIDE of the case against the enemy - Satan!
Example: Job’s case -
Job 42:3–6 NKJV
3 You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’ 5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. 6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.”
Job 42:7–9 NKJV
7 And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. 8 Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.” 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job.
Job 42.
- “He will bring me forth to the light…I will see His righteousness”
bring forth - to bring out from one place to another
God will bring His child out of darkness into the light!
From your sins to God’s righteousness
From your failure to God’s victory
- then my enemy will see.. my eyes will see her…
The enemy will see it when God delivers you from the enemy’s darkness!
You will your enemy’s shame when God shows up by your side
You will see your enemy defeated under your feet.
Romans 16:19–20 NKJV
19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Conclusion

Are sitting in your darkness these days?
know who your are, who God is for you, and who your enemy is
trust God’s judgment in your times of darkness
Put your hope in God’s faithfulness

Rejoice not against me O my enemy
He brought me out
