A Picture of God
You Clothe, you fee, protect guide, discipline but more than anything, a mother’s love sound a lot like Him. clothes in righteousness, feeds with His word, protects with His right hand, comforts in all troubles, guides in all truth, loves with salvation. by his design we can see the beauty of God through the beauty of a mother

Today is a day that we recognize the mothers and women in our lives. Women are created by God and are vastly different from men. As women have been created in the image of God there are beautiful images or pictures of God that we can see in their lives. The world has been pushing for years that women are just like men and can do whatever a man can. If this is true, I do not know. But what I do know is, that in all this the uniqueness of women can be easily lost. describe the creation of Eve as someone who would be a helper that matches Adam. Or is comparable to him, meaning that she would stand alongside him. The Old Testament portrays a helper as one who provides aid or relief. The Lord is the who ultimately provides this. Eve and all subsequent women are to be this helper in the world. It is God’s intention that you should be this extension of Himself that is need of seeing a picture of Him.
As women are described as helpers does not mean that they are stronger than men. Because this is who we would interpret being helped. But maybe we can look at it in the light that the strength of the one being helped is inadequate by itself. As we look at salvation, we see that our strength to save ourselves is inadequate and therefore we need God. The ability for a man to express all the attributes of God is not possible or we are just inadequate, so helps is need and this help is given in the form of women.

Regardless of is a lady has a child or not there is just something that God has given them that enable them to see the world through different eyes. Say a 4 or 5 year old is wanting to do some craft and it requires the use of a glue gun. A man might just see a glue gun and that is that. It the child just happens to get some hot glue on a finger the man might think, “well now the child has learnt not to do that.” Now a lady might not see a simple plastic glue gun but rather a blow torch and now instinctively runs to the child to prevent any tragedy from taking place. Removing the blow torch and giving a stick of glue instead. There is this instinctive drive to protect those around them. Men well, we think it will not cause any permanent bodily damage, so it is ok.

This instinctiveness is an attribute of God. God want to protect. says that Jesus wants to gather us under His wing like a mother hen does to her chick. Being a willing recipient of this loving, automatic protection is at times for a child not the easiest thing to experience. However, there are things that we see women do that we do not even notice. As a child I never needed to worry about clean clothes. I mean even though my mom told me to put my clothes in the laundry basket, not next to, not to leave them in my room, which I did do. I always had clean clothes. This mean that yes, she was always picking up after me. I can think if my mom told me my clothes matched or not but today, I have a caring and loving wife that will, to my frustration say, those clothes do not match or that tie does not work. That is said once the tie is made, and at times it can be very frustrating making a tie. But the point is not that Lizelle will be embarrassed with my clothing choice, well maybe with my blue and lime crocs. But what she wants and what my mom wanted was just the best for me.
Is this no what our heavenly Fathers is like. Does He not just want the best for us. Yes. So, when is says, “Sean, I do not think this is a good idea.” All He is doing is directing me. Now granted when Lizelle corrects my dress code I often have to remind myself that all she wants is what is best for me. It is the same with God, He clothes us with His righteousness and lead us in this journey. At times He corrects us and then we start over, but He does this only because He loves us. There are countless passages in scripture where God says that I want to cover your nakedness with My robe of righteousness.

As I look at Lizelle and my mom all they both have is my best interest at heart. God had given each woman attributes of who He is so that we can see the beautiful character of God. The tenderness of a touch to heal a wound, the gentle blowing to ease the pain. The compassionate words to comfort a troubled soul. The listening ear to share a burden of those who are hurting. These are all given to women by God so that the world can see glimpses of God who tenderly touches our lives who allows the gentle moving of the Holy Spirit to take place in our live. And as we share the hurts and burdens of our lives with God we know that He inclines His ear towards us and listens intensely to what we have to say.
Next time you would like to see God. Look around you to the women in the church they are all little pictures of God. God want to shine through you ladies. He wants to touch the lives of people through you. God wants all of us to be an extension of Him in this world. To the ladies in the church and to all the rest of us. God love you with an everlasting love, He wants to be your protection and compass in life. Ladies may you allow God into your lives. Men may we allow God to open our eyes that we may see His tenderness in the lives of the women in our lives.
