“Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left.”
INTRODUCTION: How proudly this dear mother presents her two sons to Jesus! There was something very real about this mother’s religion. She believed Christianity was the only way of life, not just an interesting subject to discuss over a cup of tea. She was more interested in her children’s spiritual life than whether they were on the “dean’s list”! She was more concerned about her children’s names being written in heaven than whether they were seen in the “society column” of the newspaper!
THIS MOTHER WANTED HER CHILDREN TO HAVE THE BEST IN LIFE.

1. To her, Christ was the best she could give them.

1. To her, Christ was the best she could give them.

2. She wanted her sons’ talents put to the best use.

3. She “came … with her sons”—she didn’t send them, v. .

4. She expected great things and asked great things.

5. She believed Christ should be taken in big doses, not sipped from a teaspoon.

IN HIS MINISTRY, JESUS GAVE MUCH ATTENTION TO MOTHERS.

1. He healed the mother of Peter’s wife, .

2. He restored a mother’s son from the dead, .

3. He healed a heathen mother’s daughter, .

LET US CONSIDER “SIX COMMANDMENTS” TO MOTHERS:

1. Thou shalt seek God as thy heavenly Parent.

2. Thou shalt give God preference in child training.

3. Thou shalt be an example of thy teaching.

4. Thou shalt let thy children know thou lovest them.

5. Thou shalt teach thy children to be forgiving.

6. Thou shalt not dominate thy child’s married life.

COMMANDMENT WITH PROMISE: “Honor thy … mother” ().
