LAST WEEK

We finished up Chapter 4 with a message entitled “Moved to Faith Pt 2”
We looked at the Faith of Abraham, and how he was moved to faith by the Word of God
We looked at how Obedience is Faith in Action.

THIS WEEK

So what does Faith in action look like?
What is the result of Faith?
What happens to the Christian that has been justified by Faith?
The truth is we have many friends and family members who are at war with God.
There is no peace in their lives
They are frustrated
They are frustrated
There is no light at the end of their tunnel
There is no light at the end of the tunnel
Maybe even sometimes, we find ourselves in this position.
We find ourselves frustrated.
What can the Bible offer us in times of need?
What does the Word of God say concerning these things?
Romans 5 NKJV
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:1–11 NKJV

Romans 5:1
Romans 5:1–2 NKJV

AS A PEOPLE GROUP THAT HAS BEEN CHANGED BY THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
HAVING BEEN JUSTIFIED BY FAITH
HAVING BEEN MADE RIGHT BY THE WORK OF JESUS CHRIST
We have peace with God through what Jesus has done
He continues to plead our case
When it seems we are furthest from Him
The Bible says that He lives forever to make intercession for us daily
This is probably the greatest blessing of being a Christian
That God loves us, and continues to draw us to repentance by His lovingkindness.
That he never leaves us orphan to our problems.
Through what Jesus has done on the Cross,
The Veil that once separated common humanity from the Holy of Holies
Was torn in half
Giving us access to the Holy of Holies
Making Grace available for the follower of Christ
Notice how its almost like an invitation
We have access into the Grace
When we decide to step into this gift
Grace begins to lay the foundation of faith
For by grace we have been saved, through Faith in Christ Jesus
That we, as believers, and faithful practitioners, would rejoice in Hope
Of the glory that will one day be revealed by God.
SOMETIMES IT IS EASY FOR US TO HAVE THIS PERSPECTIVE
WHEN THINGS ARE GOOD,
WHENT HE MONEY IS ROLLIN’ IN
WHEN EVERYONE IS HEALTHY
WE SING LOUDER
WE LIFT OUR HANDS
WE HAVE AN UNSTOPPABLE FAITH
BUT WHAT ABOUT WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH?
WHAT DO WE PREACH TO OURSELVES IN TIMES OF NEED?
WHAT SHOULD WE REMIND OURSELVES OF?
As the Psalmist asked himself
Psalm 42:5 NKJV
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.
HOW MANY OF US FIND IT HARD TO PRAISE GOD IN THR STORM?
HOW MANY OF US BELIEVE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO?
HE DOESN’T JUST WANT US TO REJOICE WHEN THINGS ARE GREAT
HE WANTS JOY, PRAISE, AND THE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD TO CHANGE OUR PERSPECTIVE WHEN THINGS ARE TOUGH.
I BELIEVE THAT THIS QUESTIONS DIVIDES US INTO TWO PEOPLE GROUPS
THAT HAS DONE THIS AND FOUND THE WORTH OF A WORSHIPFUL POSTURE
THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO TRY IT, BUT PROCLAIM IT AS IMPOSSIBLE.
CHECK OUT WHAT PAUL IS LEADING US IN:
Romans 5:3–5 NKJV
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
ROMANS 5:
CHURCH, WE MUST LEARN TO GLORY IN TRIBULATIONS
WE MUST LEARN TO SEE TRIBULATIONS AS A PLATFORM OF GROWTH
AS THE SOIL OF LIFE
WE MUST LEARN TO EMBRACE THE PROCESS OF GROWTH
WHY?
Because we will miss out on the fruit that tribulation produces
CHECK OUT WHAT PAUL SAYS:
We must glory in tribulations because it does something
It produces perseverance
It produces stamina
It produces longevity
It produces endurance and steadfastness
THIS BYPRODUCT OF TRIBULATION BIRTHS ANOTHER BYPRODUCT
It produces Character
Not bad character
But Proven Character
Approved Character
PERSEVERANCE COUPLED WITH PROVEN CHARACTER
Will produce Hope
Hope that does not disaapoint
Hope that doesn’t put us to shame
Hope that doesn’t dishonor us
It is a hope that is everlasting
A hope that endures seasons of trials
A hope that is proven
A hope that itself points to the character of a Faithfiul, Steadfast, Proven Christian
A hope that has been knit in our hearts by the Love of God shown and confirmed through the imparting of the Holy Spirit.
Now, we do not see nor comprehend this glory today
Right now all we see is a struggle
All we see is the challenges
All we see is the drama
All we see is Soil, Mulch, Manure, or maybe just dirt and mud.
Everything is telling us to quit
To this truth, the Bible gives us a different perspective to live into
Romans 8:18 NKJV
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
CHURCH, ONE DAY, ONE DAY, ONE DAY,
NO MORE PAIN, NO MORE SORROW, NO MORE SUFFERING
ONE DAY, ALL OF OUR WRONGS WILL BE MADE RIGHT
ONE DAY, EVERYTHING WILL BE IN
BUT TODAY, WITHIN THAT SUFFERING, WITHIN THAT SORROW, WITHIN THE PAIN
WE AS A PEOPLE, LOOK FORWARD TO THAT ONE DAY, WHEN ALL WILL BE RIGHT.
WHEN WE SEE GOD FACE TO FACE
WHEN WE EXPERIENCE THE FULLNESS OF HIS PRESENCE
WHEN WE GO BACK TO THE ETHOS OF THE GARDEN
UNASHAMED, PURE, FELLOWSHIP, WITH THE LORD,
IT WILL BE GLORIOUS
THIS GLORY MUST BE WHAT WE LIVE FOR TODAY, WITHIN THE STORM
THIS IS THE GLORIOUS PERSPECTIVE WE SHOULD HAVE IN THE MIDST OF TRIBULATIONS.
THAT ONE DAY, WE WILL WAKE UP WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD
NOTICE, HOW PAUL PRESENTS HOPE AS THE END RESULT OF TRIALS.
YOU MUST SEE HOPE WITHIN THE PROCESS
YOU MUST SEE HOPE IN THE TRIBULATION, IN THE PERSEVERANCE,
IS
AS THESE THINGS PRODUCE A PROVEN CHARACTER.
AND AT THE END OF THE SEASON,
ALL THAT IS LEFT IS HOPE
IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PROCESS THAT WE MUST PARTICIPATE IN.
CHURCH THIS PROCESS MAY SEEM LIKE A LOT OF WORK
IT MAY SEEM LIKE WE ARE WE WEAK IN THESE AREAS
HOW
IT IS IN THIS TIME WE MUST REMIND OURSELVES WHAT JESUS HAS DONE\
ROMANS 5:6-
Romans 5:6–8 NKJV
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:6–11 NKJV
WE MUST REMEMBER CHURCH
WHEN IT CAME TO SALVATION
WE WERE JUST LIKE THE LAW
WEAK IN THE FACT THAT IT COULD NOT SAVE
IT WAS, WHILE WE WERE WITHOUT STRENGTH, THAT JESUS DIED FOR THE UNGODLY
KEY WORD UNGODLY:
Salvation is for the Ungodly
Salvation is for the Unrighteous
Salvation is for the Sick
Salvation is for people who are willing to call upon the name of the Lord
THIS SALVATION IS A VERY UNIQUE ONE
YOU WON’T FIND IT ANYWHERE BUT IN THE BIBLE
SCARCELY WILL A MAN DIE FOR THE RIGHTEOUS
BUT GOD
WHO LOVES US SO MUCH
DEMONSTRATED HIS OWN LOVE FOR US, NOT OUR TYPE OF LOVE
HIS OWN TYPE OF LOVE, THAT AGAPE LOVE
WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.
This is what invites us into the promises of God found in Christ Jesus
Many people believe they must first be good in order to experience the blessings of God
Many believe we must first straighten up our lives in order to come to church
This is furthest from the Gospel
For it was while we were furthest from God, that He showed His own love toward us
It was while we were at enmity with God that He put on display His love for us
Not through material riches that moth and rust destroy
But the riches of grace and mercy that have a perpetual return.
BUT THATS NOT ALL
Romans 5:9–11 NKJV
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Romans 5:
MUCH MORE THAN JUSTIFICATION BY HIS BLOOD
IT DOES NOT STOP AT YOUR SALVATION CHURCH
YOU WILL ALSO BE SAVED FROM THE WRATH TO COME
THINK ABOUT IT
IF WHEN WE WERE ENEMIES OF GOD, HE CHOSE TO RECONCILE US THROUGH THE DEATH OF HIS SON
IT DOESN’T STOP THERE
WE WILL ALSO BE SAVED BY HIS RESURRECTED LIFE
IT IS THIS THAT CAUSES US TO REJOICE IN GOD
THROUGH WHAT JESUS HAS DONE
BECAUSE IT IS THROUGH HIM ALONE THAT WE HAVE RECIEVED RECONCILIATION
IT IS THROUGH HIM THAT ALL OF OUR WRONGS HAVE BEEN MADE RIGHT.
IT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF JESUS
THAT IN OUR DEATH, WE CAN REJOICE, BECAUSE JESUS HAS THE FINAL WORD OVER THE GRAVE.
