God Made Mama Bears Fierce

It is a widely accepted belief that the most dangerous place to be is between a mother bear and her cub
In fact, even the Bible references the protective ferocity of a mama bear
Proverbs 17:12 NKJV
12 Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, Rather than a fool in his folly.
I personally believe that God gave mothers that strongly protective instinct because He meant for them to play a HUGE role in protecting the destiny of their children
God created Mothers to protect the God-given destiny of their children
It takes faith for a mother to believe in the greatness of God’s plan for her children

Mama’s Can Have BIG Faith

Galatians 5:6 NKJV
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Gal

Big Love -> Big Faith

Matthew 15:22–27 NKJV
22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” 23 But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” 24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” 27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
Demon possession will certainly hinder your God-designed destiny
This woman could have been offended, but her love for her daughter overcame every obstacle - Maybe Jesus just wanted to see if she was really serious & meant business

If you mean business with God, God means business with you!

Mamas need to be bold to eliminate anything that comes between their child and their God-given destiny!

My mom prayed bold prayers for me, at the edge of my bed, when I was 2500 miles away - living a life far outside of God’s plan for me!!!

It Takes Great Boldness to Allow God to Have His Way in our Children

Luke 1:26–33 NKJV
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” 29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Everything that Gabriel said was true.
I wonder if Mary had any idea about HOW Jesus’ reign would take place -
Many people (even until this day) thought that the Messiah would overthrow the existing government by force as a mighty warrior.
Matthew 20:25–28 NKJV
25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
God’s chosen method of establishing Jesus’ reign was through the vehicle of the cross
The cross was brutal
The cross was ugly
The cross was the ONLY way
Matthew 26:39 NKJV
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
matt 26.
I think it is amazing that the Bible never once records Mary trying to talk Jesus out of going to the cross!

Mary never tried to talk Jesus out of the cross!

I think it is amazing that the Bible never once records Mary trying to talk Jesus out of going to the cross!
In fact, the Bible records THIS
John 19:25 ESV
25 but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
A mama bear’s greatest honor is to guard the destiny -no matter what that might entail - that God has placed upon her children & to support them and contend them into it!

Just One Thing:

Can you be bold enough to support your child, friend, spouse, etc in fulfilling God’s destiny for their life - even if it will cost them everything?
Decide to be bold like a Mama Bear!!!

Discussion Questions:

What was the last photo you took (PG -rated or less please)? Share it & maybe even share why you took that photo.
Do you feel like you could use someone(s) to help protect your God-given destiny & help it to come to pass? Explain
Perhaps you have had someone help to guard your destiny, share about them and what they did.
Read . Jesus’ prayer was to lay down His own will so that God’s plan for His life could be fulfilled. Discuss how easy or difficult it is for you to lay down your own personal plans & allow God’s plans to come to pass (if they are different than yours).
How can you boldly support God’s destiny in someone’s life around you? Specifically, who can you do this for?
