1 Timothy 2:9–10 ESV
likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
1st tim 2:9-10
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 peter 3
Genesis 17:15–21 ESV
And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.” Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!” God said, “No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year.”
Gen 17:15-
back in biblical times a woman was considered blessed by having a child. nowadays women may not can have children, may chose to not have children, but their blessing comes as they are a child of God. Not from any other way.
this morning we are going to look at 1st Peter and what he tells us about women or wives, Peter reflects all the way back to the Abrahamic Covenant. did you think i would let the covenants slip away just because its mothers day
Peter is explaining how women should live according to the great covenant relationship that God made with Abraham and Sarah. Sarah was the mother who God made this everlasting covenant with. That her children would be blessed.
Genesis 12:11 ESV
When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “I know that you are a woman beautiful in appearance,
Genesis 12:14 ESV
When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.
gen 12
Abram(Abraham) calls his wife beautiful. When the Egyptians saw her they too called her beautiful. Theres nothing wrong with being beautiful or even saying someone is beautiful. Sarai more than likely had jewelry (ornaments) on and very Egyptian looking as we know it.
Proverbs 31:30 ESV
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
I want to talk about the inner beauty of Christian women.
says wives be subject to your husbands, even if some husbands dont obey the word that their husbands may be won over by the conduct of their wives.
women are to let their adorning (ornaments) not be external but internal.
the world has made beauty something that is fake and not biblical. even more so than ever before. with social media and all the electronics. girls and young ladies dont know what true beauty or love even is.
they think their beauty is how many likes that they get or how many retweets they will get by showing their body or their beauty. true biblical beauty is that a woman loves God with all her heart and soul and strenght. that she loves her neighbor as she loves herself.
