There will be thousands of graduation speeches all over America over the next couple of weeks.
Many of them will start with...
Webster’s Dictionary defines commence as to begin or to start.
That’s great!
But when or how to you start?
I want to take a few minutes and challenge you to start your next now.
You have your next planned out as we heard in your speeches and if you don’t start anyway.
Don’t wait for perfect.
The only one that is perfect is our Lord and He’s got you!
That’s right, a verse you have probably heard from me in chapel over the last few years at least 20 times.
The word formed here is related to the word “potter.”
Have you ever watched a potter make pottery?
I have and they take great care to make there masterpiece just perfect.
That is exactly what you are to the Lord, a masterpiece.
“I knew you”
yada - to truly know inside and out
So before God ever created you He “knew you.”
And God knowing you, He loved you and even liked you.
So much so that He...
“sanctified you”
To be removed from common use.
Now I like that!
You are known by God, you are created by God and He liked you (His masterpiece) so much that He set you aside for something special.
I encourage you to read at least through chapter 29 in it entirety to see the full context.
The Lord assured the people that what had happened was not a series of unplanned, accidental events.
God’s long term plan is never to hurt but to give hope.
Now we live in a broken sinful world and very often it just plain hurts.
But PLEASE remember that you were known, chosen, set apart for something special and you have been given a future and hope!
Not because Pastor Decker said so.
Not because of these teachers who have worked with you, prayed over, laughed with you and cried with you have said so.
Not because your family and friends and have stood with you through the highest highs and the lowest lows have said so.
BUT BECAUSE GOD ALMIGHTY HAS SAID SO!
