“The glory of the Moon is the Sun.” Louie Giglio

The Moon is covered with lunar dust which is reflective in nature.
The surface of the Moon reflects the bright rays of sunlight from our nearest star.
Sunlight reflected from the Moon’s surface takes 1.3 seconds to travel the 238,900 miles to Earth.
I love sitting at my kitchen table at when there is a full moon and just looking out the window in awe at how much the Moon lights up the dark back yard. At times like this the Moon gets all the credit when the Sun does all the work.
Technically there is no such thing as moonlight.
We too as humans have no light. We can only reflect the light that is shining upon us.
2 Corinthians 4:5 NIV
5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
Paul is striving to make it clear that the Gospel he is preaching is all about Jesus.
Our words may inspire, may be nice and may even encourage but our words can and never will offer salvation.
Billy Graham would say that we have two sets of ears. Our physical ears in which you hear my words today and spiritual ears with which we hear hear what God says to us.
2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV
6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
God said “Let there be light.” and there was light. Without God there is no light. Now if you want to believe in the big bang, that is fine. Because when God said “Let there be light.” I believe there could have been a big boom.
Now think about this for a moment...
The God who created light, created our Sun and every other star out there. This verse tells us that God “made his light shine in our hearts.”
Just as God spoke light out of darkness. God has made His light to shine in our hearts.
If you have accepted Christ as your Savior. That very light is shining in your heart this very moment.
Just as the light of the Lord flashed around Paul on the Damascus Road and made him a new creation. That very light can make a new creation out of you today.
The light in believers’ lives is the knowledge of God’s salvation. His glory shining through you.
You and I are just a moon.
2 Corinthians 4:7 NIV
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians
“this treasure”
The light of the Lord. The Gospel. The glory of God.
“clay jars”
Our human and temporary bodies.
Everywhere we go, we carry this great treasure with us. But again Paul points to God and assures us that is where the power is from. From God, not from us.
You are I are just a moon.
The moon has great purpose though. The moon shines in the darkness with the light of the Sun. We must shine in the darkness with the light of the Son.

The moon shines in the darkness with the light of the Sun. We must shine in the darkness with the light of the Son.
