Purpose:
Answer the question, What is the kingdom of God?
Recognize the Keys for Entering the kingdom
Answer the question, What are the ways of the Kingdom?
God has made it clear from the time of Moses that he is looking for his kingdom to be established on the earth.
‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
God revealed through the prophets what his kingdom would look like
Ex 19:4-6
He gave Daniel several revelations regarding the kingdom that was clarified even more with the Jesus Christ
Nebuchadnezzer had a dream of a huge statue made of different metals
Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Daniel had a dream of his own recorded in chapter 7
Dan 2:
Dan 2:44-
I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
Dan 7:9
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
Dan 7:
I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Dan 7:21-22
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven -is there a difference?
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Matthew calls it the kingdom of heaven (33 out of 37x), Mark (15x), Luke (32x) & John (2x) call it the kingdom of God
rom 14:17
Matthew was writing primarily to the Jews who didn’t speak the name of God out of respect, so Matthew in turn, used the word heaven instead of God
What is the Kingdom of God?
What is the Kingdom of God?
It is only spiritual, and is demonstrated by the supernatural work of God in our spirit, soul, & body
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
It is the power and authority of God
It is not what we eat or drink -in other words, it is not physical -
It can’t be seen with our physical eyes, -
It is righteousness (doing what is right as defined by the King) -
Peace & Joy from the Holy Spirit What does this look like?
Follow after the things that make peace & things that build others up -
As believers, we are in the kingdom and the kingdom is within us -
Keys to Entering in the Kingdom
Keys to Entering in the Kingdom
Our righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees in order to enter -
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Only those who are born of the Spirit can see the kingdom of God
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
We don’t get citizenship because of our parents
We can’t be good enough to get accepted
Unlike kingdoms of this world, we can not forced to join and we are not conquered by force
We enter and walk in the kingdom by doing God’s will -
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
It can only be received as a little child -
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
Simple faith, trust, acceptance
It is extremely hard to enter the kingdom if we trust in money and the things we can buy -,
There are only two spiritual kingdoms
If we seek it first, our material needs will be met -,
And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
KJV 1900For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
We are to ask God for his kingdom to come and his will done here on earth as it is in heaven -,

Jesus gave his disciples the keys (authority) of the Kingdom of God -

Regarding binding and loosing
The greatest in the kingdom are those who walk in the humility of a child -
The least in the kingdom of heaven are those who break or teach others to break the commands of Christ -
As believers, we are in the kingdom and the kingdom is within us -
There are only two spiritual kingdoms
The Ways of the Kingdom of God
The Ways of the Kingdom of God
It is directed through the voice or prompting of the Holy Spirit -
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
There is no force involved, but there is still a need to obey the truth
This world is God’s kingdom and he will only allow rebellion for a period of time - -turn to this
Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
If we seek it first, our material needs will be met -,
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Recognize that God delights in giving us the kingdom
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
It is righteousness (doing what is right as defined by the King)
Recognize that God delights in giving us the kingdom -
We are to ask God for his kingdom to come and his will done here on earth as it is in heaven -
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
We are to ask God for his kingdom to come and his will done here on earth as it is in heaven -,
Jesus gave his disciples the keys (authority) of the Kingdom of God -
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Peace & Joy from the Holy Spirit What does this look like?
Regarding binding and loosing
The greatest in the kingdom are those who walk in the humility of a child -
What does this look like? Follow after the things that make peace & things that build others up -
Follow after the things that make peace & things that build others up -
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
The least in the kingdom of heaven are those who break or teach others to break the commands of Christ -
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
He not only spoke of it, but he demonstrated it, wherever he was received
The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

9. As believers, we are not called to just be part of the kingdom, we are kings and priests
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Righteousness -things that are right
Peace
Joy in the Holy Spirit
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Matt 12:28-
We are to speak, not based on our own authority, but based on the authority God has given us
Are we under God’s authority? Then we can speak with authority. shows us how to receive by faith.
Priests minister to the Lord and intercede. Jesus is our high priest
How is it for us today? Have you been born again? Have you received the Spirit of God? It is the only way to be in God’s kingdom.
How is it for us today?
For those of you who are born again, is the Spirit revealing an area where you need to ask in faith?
Are you in need of the power of the Holy Spirit?
Have you received all that the kingdom of God has to offer? Are we walking in the power of the Holy Spirit? The benefits of the kingdom are not to those who smart or strong. It is for those who humble themselves like a child and ask.
The benefits of the kingdom are not to those who smart or strong. It is for those who humble themselves like a child and ask.
We have a good Father who desires to give us good things.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Are you walking in joy?
Do you have peace in your heart? Is it clear before God and others?
Are we willing to surrender to him and make him Lord of our life?
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying,
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit,
Saith the Lord of hosts.
