I) Introduction

Girl and father
We all have trouble in our lives
The disciples know what happens to the Master can happen to them.
They have dedicated their lives to Jesus
now He tells them He is going away!
How terrifying for them
Jesus makes them promises
He says “I GO” - a place
He Says “I Will” - a promise
He Says “I Am” - a Provision
II) I Go
II) I Go
Stay calm, is what Jesus is saying in verse 1
if you truly believe in God, then believe in me.
And I will deliver you from trouble.
Continue to believe even when in trouble.
Note several points:
Jesus calls God “My Father”
He really exist
Jesus knew God’s house
The word mansion (monai) really means = “abiding place”
There is no shortage there!
(NKJV)
1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Jesus says “I go to prepare a place for you”
Where is He to go?
HE WENT TO THE CROSS
To prepare redemption
(NKJV)
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
HE WENT TO BE RESURRECTED
To defeat death for us!
(NKJV)
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN TO BE EXALTED AND PREPARE OUR HOME
(NKJV)
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
III) I Will
III) I Will
He will what?
He will stand in our place so we can come into God’s presence.
He will prepare all we need
He will deliver us from trouble
He will return for us
(NKJV)
25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
(NKJV)
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
He will give us eternal life
(NKJV)
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
IV) I Am
IV) I Am
I Am what?
I AM THE WAY
the only way to God the Father
the only way to eternal life
the only way to find the path
Hand is taken by the Holy Spirit
the only way to heaven
I AM THE TRUTH
the embodiment of the truth
the picture of truth
the truth in what man should strive to be
the COMMUNICATOR of truth
(NKJV)
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
I AM THE LIFE
to truly possess life one must know Christ!
(NKJV)
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
