God wants us to know Him and wants us to know how we can know Him, through Jesus!
Conversation with Nicodemus the Pharisee that came to learn from Jesus at night.
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
20 “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
21 “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Houtos - In this manner.
it is not the degree that God loved the world, but in the manner that God loved the world.
Elsewhere in the NT is describes something that has already been explained.
By applying the meaning to the word “so” that we see elsewhere in scripture, we would have to look back at
14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
And we might read this passage this way.
John: An Introduction and Commentary ii. The Evangelist’s Comments (3:16–21)
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert,
in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up,
that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life,
for in this way God loved the world;
And so [as a consequence of this love] he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life, for God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
Jesus was not Judging the world, and neither should we.
Jesus was not Judging the world, and neither should we.
Jesus came to the first time to take our sins, to conquer death and to demonstrate God’s love to the world.
So why do we?
“The bad guy” The one that tells the truth that no one wants to hear.
I heard my step-brother say this.
The Holy Spirit, The greatest preacher on the planet, convicts me of my sin, and if I’m not going to listen to Him, I’m sure not going to listen to you.
And if someone doesn’t have the Holy Spirit living inside of them, then they don’t have the capacity make the changes in their life that scripture requires of them.
Our job is to introduce fellow sinners to the One that saved us and love them like He loves us.
In Jesus is praying to the Father.
About the disciples he prayed in
John 17:
18 “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
Judgment is the default
Judgment is the default
vs. 17 believe - not judged
don’t believe - judged already.
Light and Darkness
Light and Darkness
This is the judgment. The Light (Jesus) has come into the world. Men love darkness - deeds were evil.
Evil hates the light does not come into the light.
Practices truth - comes into the light (out of darkness)
Martye was listing to Todd White, a guy whose life was radically changed by the Gospel.
The Fence - Atheist Dream.
Friday we had a memorial service for my father. I was asked to help preach his funeral.
Growing up in Kennett. Stories of a man I didn’t know.
My Father’s Father
My Father’s Father
I remember the day my Dad’s Dad passed. I remember the depth in which he mourned the loss of their intimate relationship.
As I examine my own feelings, I feel a sadness.
A sadness that any hope of having that intimate relationship has passed.
There was always going to be more time. When I get settled in my career, or the kids are older; when we get caught up on the bills and can afford to travel, or when work slows down; there will be time.
But now there is not. The hope of that relationship is gone.
God loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you through Christ.
There is hope and there is time, but don’t wait. We have no guarantees for tomorrow.
2 for He says,
“At the acceptable time I listened to you,
And on the day of salvation I helped you.”
Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
Don’t wait!
