Fanny Crosby wrote many hymns that we sing today. like pass me not of gentle Savior, jesus keep me near the cross safe in the arms of Jesus, rescue the persishing, to the work to the work, Blessed Assurance
wrote more than 9,000 hymns. She wrote so many that she was forced to use pen names lest the hymnals be filled with her name above all others. And, for most people, the most remarkable thing about her was that she had done so in spite of her blindness.
"I think it is a great pity that the Master did not give you sight when he showered so many other gifts upon you," remarked one well-meaning preacher.
Fanny Crosby responded at once, as she had heard such comments before. "Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind?" said the poet, who had been able to see only for her first six weeks of life. "Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior."
Through out the Bible there has always been women who were influential have done marvelous things for God.
Romans 1:4 NASB95
who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,
I think about Rahab the harlot and how she hid they spies and followed their commands about lowering the scarlet thread from her window and keeping here family in the house. She is even in the genealogy of Jesus
Romans 4:25 NASB95
He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
I think about Ruth and about her love and commitment to Naomi.
Mark 16:2 NASB95
Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.
I think about Deborah they great judge who helped God people defeat the Phillistines
John 20:1 NASB95
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.
What about Queen Esther who put her life on the line to save God’s people from Haman
As we move into the NT we find women of great influence. Not long after we open the pages of the NT we introduced to Elizabeth and Mary.
what about the prophetess Anna at the temple when Mary and Joseph went to present jesus she was advanced in years and was even widowed. The bible says that even at 84 she never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayer and she continued to speak about Jesus to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem
Mary and Marth

The woman at the well and how she brought the whole city to here Jesus
Lois and Eunice Timothy’s mother and grandmother the faith and the scriptures that they passed down to Timothy
But of all the women in the bible the women at the empty tomb of Jesus really stand out to me this morning as women of commitment, credibility, and commission.
Matthew 28:1–8 NASB95
Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.
Matt. 28:1-8

1) COMMITMENT OF THESE WOMEN

What were these women doing as we are introduced to them in Chapter 28?
they came to look at the grave
they came to anoint Jesus with spices
these women just wanted to honor him one last time. What love they desired to show Jesus - especially when you think about what it must have been like. Just one more opportunity to see Jesus and to express their love
in Mark we see that the women didn’t even know how they were going to get the stone rolled away - these women were commited to tending to Jesus body
We also see their commitment in the telling others about what they had seen.
can you image what would have gone through their minds between when they ran from the tomb to the disciples. what will they think? They will think we are crazy, nuts.
ran and reported

2) CREDIBILITY OF THESE WOMEN

none would have put a Jew and certainly not a woman
no one would have had the Roman guards shaking in fear
the credibility of these women would be great since they saw Jesus die.
Matthew 27:55–56 NASB95
Many women were there looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while ministering to Him. Among them was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

THEY FELT

Matthew 28:5 NASB95
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
Matthew 28:8 NASB95
And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.
Matt.

It seems that their joy superseded their fear
Their Devotion - fear - Joy - Worship

3) COMMISSION OF THE WOMEN

Matt. 28:6
go quickly

The women were given evidence to help them in the task.

What About Our Commitment?

are we committed to tending the body of Jesus which is the church
committed to not forsaking the assembly
to building the body up and encouraging one another
to function as a body to we remember what price was paid
Acts 20:28 NASB95
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

How Is Our Credibility?

How are we living through out the week. Are living a life that is dedicated and committed to God. are we living as saved individuals does life show it.

Are We Fulfilling The Great Commission?
