Does Jesus Care? Oh, Yes! He cares, I know He cares!
Most of the world serves gods and do the acts of worship of their gods so that the gods will be happy with them and not kill them or hurt them or send the evil spirits upon them.
If you serve a god like that, I want you to know that the true God is a God Who cares and LOVES you each and every one. I would challenge you to listen to what the Bible says about God, Man, Heaven & Hell and salvation and trust Him as your Saviour.

The Care Of The Lord

In this passage we see the care of the Lord for His disciples, and by extension, the care He has for us as well.

Rest

VSS. 30-32
God is our example of the principle of Rest -
Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Genesis 2:2-3
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Did God need rest? NO! But since Creation and before the Fall of Man, God said that we needed rest.
Here, we see God caring for His disciples and their need for rest.
This is not only a picture of our physical needs, but it is also a promise of our salvation!

Sustenance

VSS. 35-44
What a miracle! 5,000 men + women and children (v44) that might have come out as well. The bread and fish (v38) they had wasn’t enough for the Lord’s Supper, never mind to fill them (v42) and have leftovers (v43)!
This kind of supernatural care for their food was not something Jesus was doing everyday. But it showed that He cares for our sustenance.
In fact, He tells us to ask Him daily for our daily food! When we are careful to ask God for our daily food, it shows our dependance upon Him and that we recognize that we are dependant upon Him for life and eternal life.

The Compassion Of The Lord

Vs. 34
Compassion is not idle. If we say that we have compassion, then what do we DO?
No doubt, the feeding was part of the compassion that Jesus had on these people. I would guess finding food in any of the villages of this lonely place would have been difficult, if not impossible.
BUt what are we told was the result of this Compassion of our Lord?
He Taught Them!
They were as sheep not having a shepherd. Shepherds guide the flock to the food and the water that will keep them healthy, they also guard against the false teachers and philosophies that would come and destroy the sheep...
Sexual Immorality - we have lost our way in our morals because we do not have the compassion to tell people what God says about morals!
Materialism - IF you accumulate wealth and stuff, but you lose your health, family, friends and faith, what have you really gained?
Do what makes you happy -

The Cheer Of The Lord

The Cheer Of The Lord
Vss. 45-52 “Be of good CHEER: it is I; be not afraid.”
The secret of the Cheer of the Lord is found in the presence of the Almighty God and being obedient to the Lord no matter the problems.
They had been out in the boat for anywhere from 6-9 hours trying to cross a lake that was about 19Kms long by 11Kms wide, at the most. This should not have taken that long!
But, then Jesus came to them walking on the water! His very presence, announced by His simple statement - “It is I.” should have brought such relief and cheerfulness to the disciples.
We have cheerfulness through His presence with us.

The Correction Of The Lord

Jesus comes to them and they were afraid thinking it was a ghost!
Matthew 14:26-29
Matthew 14:26-29
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Jesus told them to be of good CHEER; it is I; be not afraid. Again, God’s presence and His WORD are enough for our troubles and struggles!
NOTICE Peter’s response in vs. 28 - “Lord, IF IT BE Thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
Most of the time when we hear preaching on this passage, we hear people talking about the faith of Peter. But actually, it is his LACK of faith that led him to step out of the boat! Peter did not believe what Jesus had said in Verse 27!
Vs. 30-31
I do not believe that Peter set out to “not” believe the Lord, but he had not yet made up his mind about trusting what Jesus said!
