Matthew 4:1–11 ESV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “ ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ” 7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’ ” 11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
· … Jesus shows that he keeps Scripture in his heart and mind and uses it to combat Satan’s temptation.

and

“ ‘On their hands they will bear you up,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ”

7 Jesus said to him, “Again eit is written, f‘You shall not gput the Lord your God to the test.’ ” 8 hAgain, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, iSatan! … Jesus shows that he keeps Scripture in his heart and mind and uses it to combat Satan’s temptation.
Jesus loved God by connecting to him through prayer
Luke 5:6 ESV
6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking.
Luke 5:16 ESV
16 But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.
Luke 5:12–16 ESV
12 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 13 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And he charged him to tell no one, but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” 15 But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. 16 But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.
… Throughout the gospels, we often see Jesus finding time and space alone to connect with His Father through prayer.

We teach and study the word every week. Emphasize the importance of this as part of our mission.
We pray together as we worship, we pray together in our small groups, we
have a prayer request box, and we have occasional time of individual prayer during our gatherings.

“Worship is a lifestyle. Not singing 24/7 but an attitude of worship where the deepest parts of who we are, our spirit, is in connection and communion with God.” - Pastor Jim

Having a heart of worship means that we live our whole lives in God’s presence. Practically, this looks like submission to his will, faithfulness in your relationship with him, thanksgiving, an understanding of his greatness, etc.

We spend time singing, which is just a set apart time where we can focus on the attributes of God, and connect with him personally.

Additionally, all of our time at youth group should be an act of worship because, again, it’s a 24/7 attitude.
