10. The Christian’s Service

;

I. CONSECRATION FOR SERVICE

Romans 12:1–2 LEB
Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

A. Call—“I beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God.”

B. Consecration—“That ye present your bodies.”

C. Charge—“A living sacrifice.”

D. Challenge—“Holy acceptable unto God.”

E. Command—“Which is your reasonable service.”

F. Conforming—“And be not conformed to this world.”

G. Change—“But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

H. Complete—“That ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

II. COOPERATION IN SERVICE

A. Personality—v. . Don’t be proud—remain humble before God.

B. People—vv. . All Christians should work together as the different parts of the body work together.

C. Practice—v. . Put into practice what God has given you.

D. Preaching—vv. . If in preaching or teaching, be faithful to God, giving your very best. Put your heart into what you do!

III. CONCEPTS OF SERVICE

A. Pretense—v. . “Don’t just pretend that you love others: really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of good”—LB.

Romans 12:9 LEB
Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; be attached to what is good,

B. Personal—v. . Show your respect and honor each other.

C. Persistence—v. . Don’t be lazy and indifferent. Be fervent. Lazy and indifference should have no part in your life.

D. Patience—v. . Rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation. Continue in prayer. All Christians need more patience.

IV. COMPENSATION FOR SERVICE

A. People—v. . “We are only God’s co-workers. You are God’s garden, not ours; you are God’s building, not ours”—LB.

B. Preaching—v. . Paul laid a good foundation through good Bible preaching. This is the best foundation to build upon.

C. Plan—v. . There is no other foundation than that of Christ.

D. Purging—vv. . Many materials are used in a building, but all will be tested by fire.

E. Pay—v. . If our work abides, we will be rewarded.

F. Problem—v. . Some people barely will make it to heaven. Their lives will keep sinners from accepting Christ.
